Some friend send me this link about oled vs lcd tv don’t know for sure if we can extrapolate this to vr but it’s a interesting taught that a good 4k rgb oled panel could beat a 8k lcd. So bandwidth problem could be limit to 4k if the next step is not 8k lcd panel
I’m worried the X is going to be limited by the cable and connection. In a couple years may need to be upgraded due to the fact the technology is not here yet. Pimax may not be able to future proof it enough even though it has the 4k panels the electronics and cables/ input connection may not handle the 3080 or 4080 graphics cards capabilities.
True, but a better GPU would let you improve the in-game graphics settings and increase the SS level, so I think an 8KX would keep me happy for ~5 years (assuming there are no case cracks or other defects which occur).
Maybe true but what is the alternative wait? you could also wait for OLED panels this would give you even more future proof. I see it more has a short term problem: is the current electronic stable enough in relation with the currently needed bandwidth? if not delay my purchase…
The best you can hope is still 80-90Hz in 4K the internal bridge can handle more so if it’s not enough you should wait. I’m in the same situation in regard to OLED panels…
I guess if it cracked you could RMA it in about a year and possibly get any first year improvements.
Sure, but my preference (by far) would be for Pimax to make headsets that didn’t need to be RMA’ed.
Maybe, although it sounds like they may already be making some progress on it.
