Pimax 8k payment

My pre-paid master card gets rejected by Kickstarter, I am from EU (Slovenia)

Did you make sure that the pre-paid have enough funds on it counting in the pledge amount, exchange rate and service fees?

More than enough.

I also see the attempts in the transaction history and they are definitely lower than the available funds.

If you can see the charge getting declined in your transaction history at your bank account its definitely not a problem on Stripe/Kickstarters side

That is also what I thought, but my bank assured me that they see no reason why it would be declined on their end and they checked that kickstarter was not on the blacklist.

I then did some googling and apparently payment processors can make rejections on their end ( for ā€œsuspiciousā€ credit cards ) and found some old forum posts of people complaining about kickstarter for rejecting their card.

I do not know if the rejection would show up in history when it is rejected by the payment processor, but unless my bank is wrong then I don’t see what other options there are.

Checks for ā€œsuspiciousā€ credit cards usually are done before pushing the charge, and the same with the first verification that its a proper card and right type e.g. not Maestro and Electron. But maybe they do some funky stuff over at Stripe.
Biggest chance is that its still some auto online fraud protection at the bank, but I may be wrong.

I suggest you open a ticket at Kickstarter

Scroll down to the bottom and open a ticket.

Ohh you removed your post, was on my way looking into other solutions for you. Did the payment finally go through?

I already did, but they say they have a large amount of tickets and it could take longer than usual.
They list the usual response time as 1-2 business days, so I’m not completely confident it can be resolved in time.

No, I’m still getting used to this forum.
I did not know if you would see my reply if I just made a reply to the thread instead of specifically to you.

and then the forum made me wait 10min before I make more posts…

Ahh I also got those issues earlier. New user thing.
I will see if I can find something. I want all of the community on board on the 8K train

You can also find me in the Un-Official Steam Group and Discord. You can find the links on my profile here.

Thank you.

I’m definitely going to try everything I can to keep on board the Pimax train

Okay, a few more solutions that I can help you directly with.

Try to remove your card from Kickstarter and add it again. This seems to have solved some peoples problems.

For the bank:

  1. Verify again that your pre-paid allows paying in USD.
  2. That its open for online transactions.
  3. Make sure it allows for big transactions, as a lot of banks have extra auto security on big transactions e.g. 1000+ USD
  4. Also make sure its one of the accepted card types, from the Kickstarter support page:

You can use a debit or credit card associated with Visa, Discover,
JCB, MasterCard, or American Express. Discover and JCB cards are
currently only accepted for US-based projects.

We do not currently accept Maestro or Visa Electron cards. If using a pre-paid credit card,
please make sure that the card has a value of at least $1 more than
your pledge amount.

Last solution would be to apply for something like Entropay, people on other Kickstarters seems to have been able to use that to pledge. I haven’t used it myself so can’t comment on it really.

I re-added it, but everything is the same.

  1. In the transaction history, the charge is already in €, so I assume this is not a problem
( I backed 8k full package, in history it shows like this:
    04/11/17 Ecommerce KICKSTARTER.COM Brooklyn NY - € 741.41 Rejected )

  2. This card works without problems with steam and others.

  3. I have made a larger purchase than this on amazon.de before

  4. It is a master card, I’ve been told the pre-paid card should work everywhere the credit card would ( but I’m not 100% sure now :frowning: ) .

I will look into Entropay.

Thanks for the update.

I still recommend you to contact the bank and tell them specifically that you will get a charge from ā€œKICKSTARTER.COM Brooklyn NYā€ for € 741.41. I seriously believe its still some kind of fraud protection.

Transactions internally in the EU are usually treated differently, e.g. Steam (Valve SARL) and Amazon.de, than ones outside of the EEC. So they usually pass through as easy as domestic ones.
The Kickstarter charge is from US though, so it may trigger something.

And yeah Master Card Pre-Paid, as long as it isn’t a Maestro, is treated as a Debit Card, so everywhere they works the Pre-Paid should work too.

I will try contacting the bank again next week and see what I can do.

I made an account on Entropay, but I will leave this as a last resort, if I read their pricing right I could end up paying them as much as %10 all together if I use them :scream:

Honestly though, kickstarter really needs more options.
I understand why they might not like paypay, but something like bitcoin should be fine for them.

Yeah Stripes payment offers aren’t the best (better than Amazon.com though). (Edit: Okay Stripe has become much better over time)

I would be happy with them just implementing PayPal as most other payment options functions through them.
And now when the company structure has change by splitting of PayPal from Ebay I hope that most places will implement PayPal now, even though they are expensive for the seller (hey just put the cost on the buyer).

Bitcoin payment options usually are kind of expensive for the seller, so usually not the best solution, but yeah put of the cost on the buyer and that would be fine.

And on the Entropy thing, yeah saw it being kinda expensive, there may be other alternatives, didn’t really check.

stripe already accepts bitcoin, all kickstarer would need to do is enable it in their dashboard.

Given that just about anybody can get Bitcoins one way or another kickstarter is literally a couple of clicks away from being able to get money from anybody…

Ohh and they were inexpensive too. 0.8% percent up to max $5. Hmm yeah Kickstarter should just activate it

Thanks for you support, but the Kickstarter campaign is over.
If you want to 8K headset, you can buy it on our official website in the future.
Thank you

I just successfully backed
I’m so happy right now.

I ended up getting a new Visa credit card just for this.

I’m also in the process of getting a usUnlocked credit card as a backup, but I guess I don’t need it now.
