Not impossible but Sony have a mammoth CPU to upscale the image on the PS4 with checkboard pattern, on a VR headset this is not the case so a custom algorithm is more difficult to implement because having more CPU power for the headset would increase price and power consumption. In the next iteration Pimax will use the upscaler included in the analogix new chip
