So I was able to get extended mode working along side Oculus Software on 2 of my setups. (Refused to give up Revive).
System 1:
EVGA GTX 1080 (Drivers - 376.09)
Win 10 Enterprise x64 Build 14393.447
Pimax 4K Firmware 1.0.0.230
Piplay 1.1.88 (Beta International)
System 2:
EVGA GTX 960 SSC (Drivers - 375.63)
Win 10 Enterprise x64 Insider Build 14936
Pimax 4K Firmware 1.0.0.230
Piplay 1.1.88 (Beta International)
Chances are when extended mode refused to take after Oculus Software was installed, you’ve unplugged the USB/HDMI multiple times and even tried different ports?
Highly recommended to create a restore point before proceeeding any further & disconnecting from internet or blocking the Pimax software from accessing the net. (A random firmware update will possibly “brick” the Pimax 4K if USB/HDMI disconnection occurs).
The method:
-
Go to Device Manager/View and Select “Show hidden devices”
-
Scroll down to the “Monitors” Section (There should be more than a few “ghost” Generic PnP Monitors listed & possibly Rift DK2).
-
Right-click them & Uninstall all “non-active” Displays (ie, Displays that are not in use).
-
Now Activate Extend Mode in the Pimax Software. (It should now be possible to switch between Extend & Pimax Mode).
Note:
Switching Between Modes sometimes crashes Windows Explorer, if this happens, open Task Manager, Right-click Windows Explorer & select restart.
Use the OCPlugin to get back into Pimax Mode if Extend Mode does not work. (Simply run it & select Pimax mode/Restart Tab).
Unplugging/Replugging the Pimax 4K after selecting Restart Tab also helps.
