Pimax 4K no longer works with steam after restart... :- (

Hey

Ahh so much happines and then so much pain… it was so great untill I…

Installed newest nvidia drivers and restarted PC.

Then nothing worked I could not see steam vr loading screen image.

So then I installed Piplay .92 version drivers as I read they are the stablest one. But nothing help.

Then I went back to old Nvidia drivers and latest piplay drivers.

Now when I connect pimax 4k I can see pimax logo. Then I click to run steamVR and sometimes I see steam VR others I don’t.

When I see steamVR and if I click on start Project Cars in steam my screen instantly goes black, red led goes on and the buzzing stops. I can move headset and see how mouse still move but 5-10 seconds later it stop moving.

I deleted steam settings. I reinstalled piplay and deleted piplay folder but now… I Don’t know what to do :- (

Can any1 suggest anything please?

Video mode seems to be working, but anything in Pimax mode breaks down and don’t work

Before you give up on it, install Revo Uninstaller an do an advanced unistall of piplay. It scans for leftover files and registry entries and allows you to delete them. Do this and install again. It might help

Thanks!

I managed to get it to work. Latest Nvidia drivers appear to be not supported I think. I made the v2 driver working. I’m thinking of droping to 1.x as I have some weird pixels flashing. Hope its software so that it can be patched up otherwise I dont know. No idea if “Gear Best” Will accept rma or not or wtf?

Regards
Dariusz

I beleive they will; however you may have to pay postage.

I would try a few games & see if flashing pixels is consistent

Yep games, movies they are everywhere. I’m trying to downgrade to 1.9.x version to see if that can help but so far that don’t even work with steam :- ((

I know this is not going to help much, but I updated my NVIDIA drivers a few days ago and everything works fine.
Windows 10 also updated an restarted and everything still works fine. So I don’t think it’s the video driver.

I’m in the habit of creating a system restore point before I update anything major. Like Piplay for example.
Windows also does this automatically so have a check if you have a system restore that will put things back.

Revo did the trick for me. That app cleared my pc off PiPlay and then everything started to work. It looks like Revo is quite great at removing/cleaning up!

I am having the same issue, no update from support?

also 2D/3D movie playback mode doesn’t work at all.

Can you post your system specs piplay version firmware etc?

Also havr you tried the above solutions?

Also add @PIMAX-Support to assist finding your request

@PIMAX-Support I am using R9 390 video card. steam VR can detect the device but virtual desktop doesn’t option any about vive or oculus anymore and it shows blank screen on headset. also 2D/3D movie mode shows non-3D interface

Okay well i have a
Win10 pro uptodate
I5-6500 stock 16gigs ddr4
r9 390 8g
Think current amd driver
Piplay 1.2.9x (think 93 or 97)
Firmware think latest

Is this a first time install? Was it working before?

Since i have an r9 390 i might be able to help you in the meantime

I’m sure that the PiPlay 2 drivers download location does actually say that they may not be compatible with latest Nvidia drivers. I know I read that on the mega download site underneath where you click download.

Eno

it was working on 1.x driver. i just upgraded to 2.0.2.33 and it is no longer working.
firmware is 1.0.0.251, both should be latest.

If you have oculus & or revive disable them & reinstsll you might need to uninstall them. See piplay discussion of new version.

@PIMAX-Support I dont have any of those. could you post link about discussion of new vrersion? I haven’t used the headset for a while due to limited usage but my setup hasn’t changed.
