Hello there, I’m hoping that someone might be able to help with my issue. I wear glasses for playing the computer, +3.0 lenses and they work great for day to day playing, however, with the Pimax, all the words are blurry and almost unreadable. I’ve tried it without the glasses and it’s worse. Does anyone here have any ideas what I should do please?
Hi Wulfrune,
Yes I have similar issues in that I wear glasses for reading, PC etc and Pimax was not focused for me even while wearing my glasses.
What I did was purchase some low cost reading magnifying glasses and use the lenses in reverse (the concave side towards the Pimax lenses) on top of the Pimax lenses.
This allowed a reasonable image circle in the centre to be well focused (Use the Pimax logo as a reference).
This does reduce the FOV a bit as you may imagine, but it is still good enough to play games, as mostly we tend look at the centre of the image and rotate the field of view to look around.
Not an ideal solution, but it’s good enough for now or until I think of some other way get a focused image.
If you decide to try this method, you may want to buy a few pairs of glasses of different magnifications and select the one that works the best. Mine cost AU$5.00 each pair and the one that worked best was 2.5 X.
I was able to find some with large lenses that are able to be held in place with double sided tape.
You will need to make sure that you don’t cover the sensors that detect when the HMD is worn, otherwise the display will not turn off when the HMD is removed.
Well this is the way I use my unit and although not ideal, it’s not too bad.
If you do try it out, let us know how it works out for you.
Thank you for your comments Helio & Luke. I doubt that I would have bought the headgear had I had known the issues that I was going to be presented with, but I did, so onwards and upwards. I am going to go speak to my optician and show her the headset and see if they can custom make some lens for me.
