Wow that’s really low powered on CPU usage for pi_server.exe!
Any others report their powered on CPU usage for pi_server.exe? I’d really like to make mine lower than my current 5.0 and up.
Have you already tried the standard trick for any cpu hungry launcher to assign number of cpus and priority to the task? This at least diminishes those kind of problems usually.
@noro No. How can it be done?
For number of assigned cpus:
Taskmanager -> Details -> right click on pitools task -> Set Affinity -> check/uncheck desired amount of cpus (1 suggested)
Hope it help in your case as well
won’t save though! You need to do it each time or make a batch for it.
@yanfeng
I set priority -> low but the CPU usage of pi_server.exe does not change. I then set Affinity to only one CPU core, and the CPU usage of pi_server.exe drops below 3.0. It used to be above 5.5. Looks good. Thank you for the suggestion. @noro
But the FPS has not increased after the decrease of pi_server.exe CPU usage with the adjustment of Affinity to 1 core.
You’re welcome, happy to could have helped at little.
If you do not gain additional fps I think that there may be other reasons as not every application profits from more cpu headroom.
Apart of that the gain of let’s say 3% more Cpu may not visibly result in more fps but probably behind the comma.
It’s worth checking out if the CPU usage of the launcher is still that high WHILE you have the game running. It may also show a higher percentage because the Pc’s power management clocks down in idle and therefore the relation is completely different.
For example back when GTA V was released for PC they had an issue (took quite a while until they fixed it) that the launcher took min 20%+ of CPU usage even during the game. Same with other games, This workaround helped me in many cases.
