Apologies if I have missed this but have Pimax given an indication on the performance difference between an X model over the + model? In plain speak if I get 60fps on the 8K+ roughly what would I expect to get on the X all other things being equal?
I seem to remember a few months ago when Sweviver first started talking about the X model that for some technical reason their wouldn’t be a significant difference in performance given the same graphics card - is this still the general thought?
I think the idea behind 8KX performing roughly like the 8K was that you don’t need to push the SS with the 8KX. Now we need to wait to see how well the upscaler of the 8k+ is performing to see if you still need SS, if not 8K+ should perform better.
No, 8KX has also an upscaler, it will run at 75Hz in native res and 90Hz when using the upscaler.
8KX is an 8K+ that can run at native resolution. I don’t know why the 8KX can’t support the 3 refresh rates of the 8K+ though.
If that’s the case then the 8KX should work (or at least be made to work) with wireless when in ‘upscaler’ mode - they have said that they have wireless working in the 8K+ but not in the 8KX.
I want to see Sweviver run some detailed benchmarking comparison tests between the old and new headsets. I’m sure he will.
Eg while it’s tempting to upgrade from a 5k+ to the 8K-X, if the reality is that we have to run 8K-X at lower quality settings than the 5K+ until a 4080 Ti is released, I’d rather wait.
Because by then I expect the ‘16K-X’ will be out and the 8K-X that much cheaper
The claim is that native 4k per eye can now run with minimal extra demand over 2k per eye, and I need the clear evidence of that
