One of the settings I didnt try was to change the resolution setting for the HMD in PiTool - I had it on 2 and 90% of the games from Oculus that werent crashing on loading will now load and play, with the exception (of course, the main game I want to play) - Marvel United… So If anyone has some magic to get Marvel working I would love to hear it
Ive been playing Oculus games on my Vive since revive launched way back, never had any issues overall - but now with PiTool I have had, if Im lucky, a success rate of 10% - and none of the games I really wanted to play like Marvel or even Lucky Tales… Both of those just make the monitor go black and the headset appears to be frozen - and my PC becomes unresponsive for a 30-40 seconds before it will finally fail to load…
Use EDProfiler to make a profile for VR in ED
Start the game using the actual EXE not through Steam or Oculus store
The game should load in VR
Or if doesn’t then just change to HMD Headphones in game
I only used revive with my Vive - on my PiMax I was launching through PiTool - but I am using the Beta for SteamVR, so Ill opt out of the Beta to see if it helps - Thanks for that idea.
5K+ … Have to say I like it, but I feel I should have stayed with my original 8K selection… In between switching from the 8K to the 5K I picked up a 2080ti card and I didnt think I would bother so I was going to run with my 1080 and was worried I couldnt play what I wanted on 8k, but live and learn Still a nice headset though, once I used my Advanced Vive headstrap
Well tbh if you saw both sbs you might still have prefered the 5k+. A lot comes down to visual preference. Either way you have an awesome headset that is a considerable upgrade.
True - and no doubt I like the upgrade, I stopped using my vive a few months ago simply knowing the PiMax was coming - the tunnel vision started to bother me in some games and of course, reading text was a pain. I used it like crazy since the launch (Pre-ordered, had it on launch day). Hoping to fully get into Pimax this weekend now - wanted to try a few games I played from Oculus and hoping that using the non-beta SteamVR is the fix for my launching issues.
Hmmm no luck still with Marvel, a sports challenge game, even Henry, it loads but it has one color for the entire story - thats an odd one.
Marvel crashes with an odd D3D device is lost error when it starts to load - I disconnected the PiMax and went back to the Vive and it loads up fine (of course, using revive though).
VR Sporst Challenge also crashes at load with a differnt D3D error… but on the Vive, checked that as well it still loads and plays without any issues.
Lucky Tales still doesnt load at all…
Invasion loads and plays without any issues, as does Ocean Rift - but it seems that only fairly simple demos work for me from Oculus… This is frustrating
