Ordered Option A, Original Backer of 8K, took the 5K+ and Coupon Orignally - Was told I need Option D after 2 months?

This may have been discussed when the options first came up, but I didnt see anything from a quick search and was hoping I could guidance First, lets not get into that I have asked support about my order in the past and it was “Going to ship the first week of Feb” - There were no mentions of the upgrade option being incorrect. I checked back this week and was told by support that I cant use Option A, but I needed to use Option D and I needed to pay an additional $400 before they will ship. So with that login, I would need to pay $799, lose my $100 coupon and ALL perks for being a back including my $100 Eye tracking coupon. If I bought an 8K+ outright it would be $999. So If I give back all of my perks, and the two Coupons I am paying MORE than $999???

So I see that I misread the Option A and it was for the Bundle, I backed only the headset. But why would I opt out of eveyrthing and essentially pay more for the 8K+ headset?

@PimaxQuorra

Option A was for if you bought the bundle and are now going to give up the basestations and controllers - hence the lower price.

There was a discussion a while back about if its worth it or not - it depends if you want the stretch goals or not (and if you think they are going to deliver - e.g. the eye tracking is no longer free, no sign of wireless or fans at the moment and could be years away). Also, you might not be bothered by the comfort kit since it comes with the 8k+ anyway.

Its slightly better if you want to go for the 8kX since the difference between 8k+ and 8kX is $150 but in the shop its £300

In the end, it depends what your priorities are.

PS. I guess you backed the 8k and kept it (rather than downgrading to 5k+ - if you did downgrade it would be plan c which includes the $100 discount for the downgrade)

Assuming that you pledged for 8K originally (headset only) and then changed to 5k+ plus 100 USD coupon you should be eligible for Plan C (https://backer.pimaxvr.com/shop/product/backer-upgrade-plan-c-364), which will “consume” the 100 USD coupon as well.

If you managed to pay for Plan A (which is for backers who pledged for the bundle) and paid 399 USD already, you should need to add only 300 USD for Plan C.

I guess the support did not notice you should have a 100 USD coupon from 8K downgrade.

You should be eligible for Plan C, which gives you the following “discounts”

  • $50 for opting-out of the stretch goals
  • $50 for opting-out of the $100 eye-tracking coupon
  • $100 from the 8K to 5K+ downgrade coupon
  • $200 if you upgrade to an 8K-X
  • $50 if you upgrade to an 8K+

8K-X
Total discount: $400
Price after discount: $899 (excluding shipping/tax)

8K+
Total discount: $250
Price after discount: $749 (excluding shipping/tax)

Discounts that you aren’t getting

  • $50 bonus if you opt-out by December 31st (brings the total for stretch goals up to $100)
  • $300 for opting-out of the BS+controllers

Hello Robotica72,

You may refer on those comments below. They are providing some tips to you.
Those are definitely right on this Backer Upgrade Option.

Sincerely,

Yep - Thanks to everyone who replied - The real headscratcher was Giving up $200 between the $100 downgrade coupon and then the $100 Eye tracking - and then all stretch goals, which should be more that $50 overall. Essentially, not a big incentive to back another headset. My concern is that I am one of those people that cant use my 5k+ due to eye strain issues (Major eye strain, my vision is messed up for 30-45 minutes after using the 5k+) - I have my IPD and I can use my Index, Quest, Vive Pro for hours without any issues. So I didnt want to sink another $800 after shipping on another Pimax headset that will sit around unplayable. At $500 it was worth the risk - Guess Ill just stick with my Index, but I will miss the FOV, no doubt … But what good is the big FOV is I cant play long and then pay a price after playing…

I had that issue too. My eyes got messed up after using the headset.
Everything was fine within a 10 meter range but when I looked out the window I could see a person walk somewhere and there would be two of them. It was the weirdest thing, couldn’t get it to be normal again and I was afraid to go out and drive my car.
Had to wait 30-45 mins for it to disappear.

But with the manual ipd settings I could find a setting and maybe I got more used to it but I don’t experience it anymore.

But in any case it is a clear sign something is wrong somewhere.
