Oculus in Piplay

Hi,
Well I installed the Oculus software and I’m wondering if I need to do anything special to get Pimax to be found in Oculus setup.

It seems to be looking for the headset in a HDMI port and two USB3 ports. Pimax is in a HDMI and USB2 ports.

No problems with Pimax and Piplay, but Oculus setup can’t find the HMD.

Do I have to put Pimax into a specific mode?

With Piplay version 1.2.53 there are only Pimax mode and Video mode. Which is the correct mode?
I thought the we generally only use Pimax mode now?

Also, I see Oculus Home menu in Piplay downloaded screen. So does it only display Oculus games that have been purchased/downloaded?
I downloaded a free game as a test but nothing shows up.

Obviously I’ve missed a step somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, Luke

Update.
Managed to get Oculus setup to finish.

Ok. The latest version wants to find a HMD in a HDMI port and a USB2/3 port. And… a sensor in another USB2/3 port.

When Piplay is running, it seems to prevent Oculus setup finding the HMD. Closing down Piplay doesn’t help as the PiService keeps running. However, stopping PiService does.

As soon as I stopped PiService, Oculus setup was able to find the HMD in the HDMI and USB2 ports.

Again however Oculus setup will still keep looking for the Oculus sensor that is supposed to be in the 2nd USB port. But exiting the setup at that point allows Pimax to be seen and all seems to be ok.

Piplay also is then able to find the downloaded game and run it correctly from the Piplay Oculus Home.screen

So I would suggest for new players, Run Oculus setup BEFORE installing Piplay and if Piplay is already installed, stop the PiService (Win Task Manager/Service), run Oculus setup and then restart PiService and all should be well.

As with many things Pimax, what worked for me may not for others.
I would suggest that people post what steps they take as it may help someone else.

Cheers, Luke

Cheers! This fixed a few of my Oculus home games. They worked before but stopped working, and this post made me realise that it was because an Oculus update had deleted my HMD.

Well, it didn’t seem to fix everything for me.
Installed another free demo from Oculus store and Piplay didn’t find it.
I had to find it in Other although it is just under the first demo I downloaded.

Also, Oculus is still having trouble finding the headset :frowning:

Still wants the Oculus sensor, but I don’t know how to tell it to forget about it and finish setup.

Any ideas?

If you have a pseye, I think you can use psmove service to emulate the tracker. I am not sure if it will work with piplay, maybe you have to use revive and launch the game in steam. Steam should pick it up as vive tracker, and revive should make it work in Oculus games. I’ll test if it works.

If you don’t have pseye, I don’t know. I have just been looking for some kind of hack patch but couldn’t find anything.

Edit: PSeye + psmove service + revive definitely works.
PSeye + psmove service + Piplay definitely doesn’t.

Nuh. Not working.
As soon as I start PiServiceLauncher Oculus looses connection with the HMD.

The demo works fine without Oculus finding the HMD launching it from within Piplay so maybe I don’t even need Oculus?

I do have pseye and psmove service. It’s worth a try to see if Oculus setup sees it.

Have you tried revive?

No. I have to find it.

So do you close down Piplay? What about PiServiceLauncher service?

You can leave Piplay open, or closed, don’t think it matters. It’s here: Releases · LibreVR/Revive · GitHub

You just install revive then the Oculus games should show up in steamvr.

So are you using a psmove in place of the Oculus hand controller? Are you also using a PsEye camera?

It seems that is you download an Oculus game/etc from Oculus store and install it, it won’t show up in Piplay Oculus Home page until Piplay is restarted.

At the moment I’m not using a psmove, but it will replace the Oculus Touch if you want it to.
I just played Herobound with just the pseye plugged in, and an Xbox controller.

Psmove service won’t work with Piplay. Maybe they are working on it, I don’t know. For now, I don’t use Piplay really at all. Just psmove service, steamvr + revive.

Interesting!
Pimax seems to be quite a flexible little HMD

Downloaded Revive and will give your method a try. Thanks for the insight.
