I downloaded the 8KX 90hz beta, updated with DFU.exe. And reinstalled outdated Nvidia driver.
But oh! I forgot…
Last week I obtained the latest VGA Bios for my ZOTAC 3090, updated Nvidia Driver and activated resizable BAR feature for my 570 Mainboard with 5950X
If You look at Nvidia homepage to activate Resizable BAR there is a precondition.
Update to the latest GeForce Game Ready Driver (version 465.89 WHQL at the time of writing, released March 30th, 2021), or a later version
So I can either select Resizable Bar or 8KX 90Hz, but, of course, I think we need both activated.
Could You help us out there?
Are you saying that you have gotten 90Hz to work with 465.89 WHQL driver without having Resizable BAR activated? Officially, the last working driver version supporting 90hz (before something broke with the driver) is 461.09 WHQL and internally we cant seem to get 90Hz to work beyond that version, with or without resizable bar enabled.
I think what he’s saying is basically that we have to choose to stay on 461.09 and get 90hz, or upgrade to 465 and get resizable BAR.
Right now we get one or the other and it’s gonna be a growing problem as time goes on and possibly more functionnality gets added by nvidia to their drivers.
461.33 hotfix version also works with 90hz, but that’s the limit so far, that version had the steamvr stutter fix. Hope you’re pestering nvidia every day to fix whatever broke
Because some of us don’t just play vr games So for some we are having to switch versions back and forth, I’m having to change nvidia driver versions so I can play warzone (having odd stutter/fps issues with the older versions), then switch back to older for 90hz.
Unsure if there is complications in enabling resizable bar and then downgrading drivers? either way it’s added faff.
I estimate, the price will rise even more.
Buy now or wait for another year or two minimum. And maybe there is just no offering.
That was the reason, I bought CPU and Graphic Card in December…
If I would sell it now … And I keep my 2070 super as replacement.
I personally am staying on the latest nvidia driver because I play a lot of Warzone and I’m actually quite satisfied with 75Hz in the 8KX already (also prefer better performance over higher refresh). So I’ll just wait until Pimax gets 90Hz working on the latest driver instead of switching versions back and forth.
Let us hope Nvidia and Pimax will fix their stuff soon. Unfortunately, there is no easy driver switching but de-install and re-install. I will stick to the latest driver, too.
why don’t you install windows on 2 different drives then you can always choose from wich drive you want to boot depending on playing vr or normal games if not having both is such a big issue and it’s not a lot of work cause you just clone you’re drive to the other drive simple as that
Guess what, I already did that ! But for backup and restore purposes. Anyway it is not convenient for me. In reality, it causes additional admin work, requires time to maintain both systems. Steam behaves sometimes odd if You switch between installations.
