I’ve tried the experimental and regular branch. Neither work. I guess they updated out pimax support?
I was playing yesterday and it was fine . I will try it when I get home
Nope, it works fine.
3 times I have tried to collect the hermetic seal from the outpost for the tutorial and directly after collecting the seal when I am still in the building the game freezes with the screen being tilted and trilling.
pimax users tend to be more tech savvy in my humble opinion
I said on these forums, not Pimax users in general
I’m pretty sure a vast majority of Pimax users are tech savvy, I just don’t think many of those users frequently visit these forums.
In regard to your No Mans Sky issue, what troubleshooting steps have you taken to diagnose the issue? You switched between the experimental and regular branches, but what else? Did you try deleting and reinstalling the game entirely? Restarting your computer? Updating/clean install of GPU drivers? Removing No Mans Sky configs that you probably messed with while trying to fix the horrible performance you described weeks ago? Also might be helpful to provide your operating system and hardware specs if all else fails in case anyone else with a similar setup is having the same issue.
The original post is totally ridiculous though, they updated the Pimax support out of the game? What lol? You think the game is made to work with the Pimax specifically in the first place?
I think visiting these forums, on a regular basis has less to do with how tech savvy you are and is more to do with the unstable nature of the headset.
I’m extremely tech savvy, and I think I spend more time on these forums than with my family.
Seriously, you know it’s a problem when you feel like a sense of familiarity with certain regulars on the forums such as @Heliosurge, @TrevorVR, @Sjef , etc.
I have real life friends i chat to less … lol.
Its like we are all part of some pimax MMO and we are in the same guild. All doing raids on pimax issues. Celebrating when we fix a bug or figuring out how to get something working.
I own a rift, and a psvr and i think i’ve visited the oculus forums like maybe once a year with an issue.
psvr never.
pimax multiple check ins per day just t see what else is fk’ed up in pimaxville. (I seriously don’t feel right unless I check what new topics on the forums have popped up, it’s become a ritual)
seriously I have a shortcut to the pimax forums app on my phone’s home screen …“WTF?”
somethings odd here . am I the only one?
I suppose I will stop visiting these forums when Pimax has a stable product. (so never)
Well if something works fine until an update occurs it easy to jump to conclusions that are unlikely. Like say presuming a driver/program update may have fried a cpu and/or Mobo. Of which is less likely to happen today vs the days of old(not to be confused with Can’t happen).
Hellogames has had a bad past history in NMS with promoting features that were not there at launch.
Atm we have an odd issue going on with Obduction where GoG version is working properly with SteamVR & Steam version doesn’t seem to be launching properly into vr mode.
Now if folks wanted to be helpful with troubleshooting that have NMS working comparing setup files could be helpful and/or suggested things to try. Ie hidden configs maybe in user\appdata directory etc.
As Windows is known to have settings all over the place which can & has caused a variety of problems.
Obduction works fine for me in SteamVR mode, no one is reporting this issue of not being able to launch into Obduction other than like two people here on these forums, and you’re trying to say you think the problem is the game and not the users who are having the problem? I’m not sure how you came to the conclusion that the GOG version works and the Steam version doesn’t from reading that other thread, because I participated in almost the entire thing and that’s not the case. Moving on…
Sure, it’s easy to jump to conclusions, that doesn’t mean you have to go make a public post basically accusing the game devs of “updating out pimax support”. Not sure if the OP really believes this or what, but it’s kind of a ridiculous thing to suggest. I’ve already confirmed that it works, and I’ll be happy to stream it for you to prove it if you want.
Also, I don’t see what Hello Games history has to do with the current iteration of the game. Are you suggesting they removed VR support from the game or something as well? Because I can assure you that isn’t the case.
Finally, yes, it’s always possible that the Windows installation could be the issue. One easy way to check if that’s the case is to make a new user account and test on that, I’ve found that often times it resolves mysterious problems that make no sense otherwise.
That’s my point, though. It’s most likely something broken with this guys setup specifically, not the game its self, so it’s ridiculous to assume that the game is just broken and that’s the only explanation.
Well, we’ve come full circle and I’m back at my original point now. Hopefully I’ve helped out in some way, troubleshooting problems is all about trying things and not just complaining that it’s not working. Have a good day
It works for You and Helio, not the other way round.
I would say I’m pretty tech savvy being an IT professional going on 20+ years, but maybe I’m not as wise as You…
We’ll just leave that there…
This has worked really well for me when troubleshooting Cortana issues in the earlier W10 builds, but I’ve never used it when troubleshooting games. Maybe I should…?
I can fully agree with that though but this also means not to dismiss other peoples ideas because You think they’re wrong (unless You know it for sure). I have personally done that a few times too many and have later found out they were actually onto something even if not exactly the issue then related.
It seems your unaware of this steam thread.
So no your not helping to make any point that shows in positive light. But I recall Tech Savy people pointing out to you the extremely improbable likelihood Pitool 180 caused your computer to fry.
It still works for me . And it seems to run smoothly .
It’s running for me also - just can’t play since GamePad support is not working for me
Totally agree, I was very vocal when 80% of the games i would launch on the Pimax would crash to desktop with out of memory exceptions. The overall experience was that the pimax was crap.
but then i reinstalled windows and that percentage has reversrd , even games that failed to run before are launching without issue.
something on either my games settings or steamvr configuration was corrupt.
I don’t understand why nms vr closes out after running it now. I reinstalled it, restored driver defualts, restored dpi settings and it has it regular configuration file settings. Everything is vanilla. I’ve tried steamvr beta and min branch. Nothing
Ive got 70 hours on my NMS save and ive played exclusively on my Pimax 5k+ using the 180 version of Pitool.
Performance isnt awesome but that afflicts everyone playing in VR, not specifically Pimax users.
when you say everything is vanilla, do you mean you have no mods installed?
