NIS VR scalar tool not for Pimax?

This appears to be an Openmr tool. Pimax and steam are openVR.
So… two questions does it work despite that with the 8KX?
And… when can we expect Pimax to support openMR?
Or does it already do that somehow and I stupidly just missed the info?
Cheers all

You mean OpenXR. SteamVR I believe has OpenXR support being a part of the OpenXR consortium. Not sure if pimax has added anything specific on the OpenXR side of things.

You should be able to try it and it should either work or maybe not.

@Pimaxusa, @pimaxquorra may have more direct details on OpenXR Nvidia Image Sharpening tool.

Yes openXR. Oops- my memory is like a steel trap rusted shut!
I think if it worked in the 8kx, vrsimguy would have mentioned it.

No worries with the forum name easy to do lol.

With OpenXR it may indeed need to wait for pimax to update to using mote specifically OpenXR on there end.

Varjo I know from iirc @twack3r mentionef you can run it in OpenVR mode or OpenXR mode.

Nvidia and/or Valve may also at some point add something to OpenVR as things are still slow with OpenXR Standard adoption/maturity.

Hi,

The NIS Scaler tool (now OpenXR-Toolkit) works well with pimax, and OpenXR Games (like FS2020).
I use it with my Pimax 5k+, I do not have found yet the right compromise between performance and graphics, but it definitely worth a shot.
They have a very interesting todolist (DLSS, FFR, …), you may want to follow their work.

If needed, I can relay some information as I know one of the creators (they do not have any pimax device to check, wich explain that the VR-GUI is not compatible with canted display yet for example)

I heard that the OpenXR Tool Kit only works in MSFS 2020. I have it and its Super.

Awesome! Which headset are you using and how hard is it to install and configure the toolkit?

Hi. I have a PiMax 8kx and the NIS scaler works with my headset. Google GitHub NIS Scaler. Should come and Programmer name is something like mbucchia. Plenty of tutorials on You Tube already. Very easy to use. Have a super day

Mbucchia made a new version of it, called “OpenXR Toolkit”, link for users: Quickstart | OpenXR Toolkit

For whatever reason it doesn’t improve clarity for me even at 100% or say 150% with a 66.7% scale, which the NIS scaler for OpenVr (VRPerfKit from fholger) certainly does. After some time I realized it was because the OpenXR Kit sits at a point in the pipeline which either messes up or degrades the TAA or in-game CAS, but apparently you can fix that with some configuration edits. Yest to try it…

Which game? Which scale?

Scale in fholgers tool goes in theory from let say 0.1 (totaly undersampling) to 5 (totaly oversampling).
And it is easy visible with sharpening circles.

The tool from mbucchia has different scale. From low (ca 0.1) up to 1.00 is same as fholgers tool. But if you go more than 1, it will again undersample. You can not oversample with that tool, you need to bump up pitool/steamvr ss first.

Ps: I tried NIS scaler on Morrovind vr; It was working, but without any savings on GPU.

¿Do you need to change the renderer in steam to openxr or you leave it in steamvr?

Does this work any game? I only play Automobilista 2 game in VR.

Don’t have AM2 but work great with ACC.

fholgers works wonderfully. I’m talking about NIS scaler from mbucchia for FS2020
