New user, about that graphic card port thingy

Hi! I am trying to figure out the simple thing about the ports we should use. As I understand you have an internal card and a good external card (gtx etc).

Today I did not have any DVI so I plugged the VR to my external and monitor to internal. It seems however that VR is still rendered by the internal card. Is this correct?

The correct way to always use the headset is to only use the external card? The HDMI must be used by the headset and then I need to use DVI or if there are more HDMI ports use those?

I have had many issues today but I guess all of them is related to the fact that the computer is forcing VR on the internal card.

Do I need to disable internal or is it enough with just plugging correct stuff to gtx card?

Tomorrow I am getting a DVI-HDMI and will experiment more

you should always disable the internal card both through the bios and the device manager. the HMD uses a HDMI cable (the 8k when its released will use a Display port (2 DP’s if its the 8k X))

your external monitor also needs to use the external graphics card as well and can use whatever cable connection you have for your monitor. if thats DVI,VGA, etc use that.

the reason vr is forcing you to use your internal card is because it will always try low power gpus over high perfomance gpus on launch… so you have to disable it.

Hope this helps
