Is there a way to reload the firmware new on the headset?
PiTool will auto-install new firmware if needed, when you update it.

@neal_white_iii I’ve been away from the forums… Has the 8k surpassed the 5k+ yet?

I’m not quite sure what you mean by “surpassed”.
I have an 8K and it’s a good headset. I can’t compare it to the 5K+, but that unit seems to be more popular. There’s a 5K OLED version too, which suffers from all the pros/cons of OLED. There are going to be some announcements soon (sometime after Sept 16) and rumors are that the 8KX is really nice and that there may be more than one HMD announced. Also, people are hoping for more info on the accessories: Base stations, controllers, deluxe head strap, etc.
I don’t have any insider knowledge, so it’s all speculation at this point.

from newer lens shots shown in sweviver’s video of the xtal, 8k looked much better and even with the 5k+, because of the scaler and the different sub pixel arrangement i’d say equal and 5k+ and 8k are different, depending on personal preferences some people will prefer one hmd over the other but imho definitely no “surpassing”
