My StarVR One Arrived!

Didn’t want to buy one but couldn’t resist. Will have mine in a week. Mine is not for developing but for GAMING  So will surely do a review with that in mind.

My IPD is 69.5, so will be interesting to find out how that works.

How did you convinced them to sell you one?

PS. Maybe you are the perfect IPD

No, I wasn’t exactly looking forward to having that whole discussion, feeding them lies about my plans etc. I bought mine from somebody who had bought it from them instead.

So my starvr one arrived, but i sold it already to @Djonko (i think he will do a nice review from the unit) For reference i had almost every headset out there…

But here are my impressions,

First the build, very nice and compact and lightweight(i didnt expect it to be this light)
This kind off field off view in such a compact design is amazing…

Comfort also very very good…
I had no cross eyed feeling with the big field of view…

No distortion at all!
I have 67ipd and the eyetracking did set it right and it did feel good…

The cable on the headset is on the heavy sight and a litte to thick for me,i wanted to use it in my free time also in my Yaw vr but didnt work well with this cable…

Colors,great its Oled…Dark blacks and popping color…

We wanted to use it on our project but after trying we found the resolution too low and a too blurry…(maybe it can be tweaked because you download some image profiles to your computer with the compass app,but i stopped trying)

So i still didnt find the ultimate headset with rgb oled panels.

Also i did see mura,i dont know if this is called right(but somekind of dirty lens look)I have seen that before on other oled headsets and some lcd panels but it was to pronounced for me…

So back to the valve index for us.

I think @Djonko will give a better inside look at this headset…

What you saw was Chromatic Aberration not mura. Mura is color inconsistency which happens from over baking the display in manufacturing. The Chromatic Aberration is definitely an eye alignment issue.

So you also witnessed the blurriness?

essentially is when you look at objects and the edges of it have a mild red and blue aura

You have the StarVR one?

No that wasnt it,some kind of dirty lens look,i see that on more vr headsets

Seems kind of odd you would give up trying to improve the blurryness of an expensive highly anticipated headset so quickly :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. Well Djonko will probably find a blurry fix.

No, I’m waiting the 8KX.

Ok that’s different. I sent StarVR about that. That is likely created when in software they dont allow the pixels to fully switch off to avoid black smearing. The problem is that it creates a sort of dirty layer in front of you.

PS. also can be created if the lens have some sort of filter

i think he will… he will give some better impressions as me… he is even more vr addicted than me …lol

that is it exactly…

The problem with StarVR is that the original creators left the company in late 2018 and are not there to continue development and improvement. I know because i know the creators of the headset.

they have new engineers that will help you with that now…

Maybe, I don’t know the level of understanding it requires. but it would be nice if they do. I will send them an elaborated PDF with images with the issues and solution considerations
