Now it has been about 2 Weeks since I received my preorder.
First, I was absolutely hyped and happy to receive it finally.
But after first look i was a little sad. I have the Vive pro also and the difference from SDE is not really big.
heres a little pros/cons list:
SDE (Pimax) little bit better than vive pro | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod) ok
Colours (Pimax) Black is gray and Brightness is too dark(even with high setting) | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)Better contrast/Brightness
(Pimax) The white colour from fpsVR and Turnsignal are something green | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)normal white but everywhere else white is white^^
Worldscale (Pimax) felt like zoomed in, had to change some settings | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)good
Plug & Play (Pimax) first impression was bad, but with manual switch for lighthouses it works good now. | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod) ok
Tracking good, but loes tracking when pushing volume buttons | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)good
Vive Wands (Pimax) Steam Menu button tries to start steam even when steam has started by pitool | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod) no problems
FOV (Pimax) sure it looks bigger, but everything you “see” more is distorted | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod) smaller FOV but everything sharp, no distortion
God Rays you can see godrays more then on vive pro with gearvr mod
Supersampling (Pimax) needs much SS to look as good as in the vive pro | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)SS set to 200% for every game and no problems
Pitool (Pimax) too much trying out settings for differend games | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)SS set to 200% for every game and no problems
Cable lengh (Pimax) about 1 meter longer than vive pro | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)1 meter shorter
Display sharpness fells little better on vive pro
Sweat not sweatproof, but I sweat less with the pimax | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)sweating terrible without putting fans on HMD
Headstrap (Pimax) with HTC DAS comfort is ok, without bad | (Vive pro+GearVR Mod)fits perfect
I recently decided to put the Vive Pro away, but not because of the FOV or little better SDE.
The Pimax lets me sweat less than playing with the Vive Pro.
