My experience with the Vive DAS and 3D printed hinges

No need for asking for anything. Just order. All support SHOULD be removed by the one who prints them. But you should always check if for some reason some support was not removed properly. Especially in the region where it snaps in.

So far no issues. Still fits perfectly.

This is the way i did it. Is it better? I don’t know. Never tried other way round :joy:

I still don’t get it why it is supposedly so difficult for you to apply the two parts. It is really no rocket science here. Just be a little careful and think twice in handling these things.

I couldn’t resist. I ordered the printed parts and a lot of cushions and other stuff from vrcover. I hope it’s worth it. All this waiting for my pimax makes my wallet cry…

It definitely is. And the wait, too :joy::+1::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I received my DAS adapter, but it seems that they have different sizes. Can someone please check?

@nukular
That looks like you have 1 short version & 1 long version. Is that the only side clips you have? Or do you have 2 of each?
I only printed 2 of the short version for myself

Only one of each unfortunately. I followed Tyriels video…

Oops. They should have printed 2 of each or at least 2 of 1 version. The short version is probably the best as the das can go all the way to max tightness on me

I am getting mine printed tonight. $7 CAD for the short version.

If you ordered the print from Thingverse, in Thing Files there are only one .stl file for each version - one for short and one for long version (they can be flipped over for either side, left or right) - it looks like that’s what caused the mistake.

Also PLA is quite brittle. PLA+, or carbon reinforced PLA or maybe even PETG is better option, but I’m not sure about PETG as it’s a bit more flexible than PLA so maybe be too flexible for the snap on part.

You ordered wrong. You should have ordered either from the first file 2 or from the second file. You have certainly entered with the order each 1 piece.

Yes I have noticed exactly the same thing :money_with_wings:

Edit. But about the topic. @Virtualmisterl why is there two versions of the part, short one and long one?

@nukular you should be able to use then both anyways. Your DAS will be a little angled, but should be no problem.

I am pretty certain that he made the long one first, Realizing that the DAS is positioned around two cm more backwards in comparison to the vive and thus fitting only big heads there was a need to bring the DAS hinge as much to the front as possible. Thus the short version.

I was thinking about to alter the design so that the hinge sits even more forward but then also more outward. Similar position as the vive. But my 3D-Printer needs new parts and so I put that idea on hold :joy:

Okay, I will do some test prints on saturday as well. Too bad dont have the Pimax to test. :beers:
But I can test the fitting in the DAS atleast.

Shit. Yes, I noticed that yesterday that he does it wrong in his video. :frowning:

I ordered the short and the long (2 pieces each) and I also ordered the snap version because the price difference was just 2 euros. Most of the price is shipping and provision for thingiverse…

@nukular contact me via PM I might be able to help
