I love these videos- keep them coming brother.
Sebastian didnt use in-game supersampling, it was all the way to the left as far as I can see. Or did I miss anything?
Unfortunately the game looks rather bad without pushing the in-game slider to max. Pitool 1.5 wont help, neither 2.0 as the in-game SS does a better job removing aliasing.
A 1070 laptop can run Skyrim VR in mostly 80-90fps without in-game SS on PiTool 1.0 SteamVR 100%.
SkyRim has in-game temporal antialiasing, impossible to achieve the same result with the super sampling antialiasing.
In the future maybe the TAA can be replaced by RTX DLSS with great performance boost
I think sebastian would have mentioned in the review if things didnāt look very good and he was compromising on SS, we will have to wait and see what he says
You mentioned FO4 and hellblade ran terribly, maybe Seb could chime in that game, probably best to focus on the games that run the worst and whether the 2080ti solves this or not, as everyone is going to be on 2080 or 2080ti for this.
Iām just deciding now on 2080 or 2080ti, going by Sebastaisn review here seems 2080 is best, going by your review/benchmarks seems 2080ti is way to go.
I think you would be better off with the 2080ti or 1080ti, the 2080 dose not look like it is any better then the 1080ti.
his conclusion was that it was a tie between the two factoring in other games that wernāt benchmarked, and it consumes less power and may get better later, virtual link is a big + as well, its pretty much the same performance overall.
Hi there, I really liked how Skyrim looked in my tests. I didnāt feel the need to use the internal supersampling at all. But others might feel differently.
I cannot tell you about 2080 performance, this was on 1080ti.In general I would say go for the most performant gpu, go for 2080ti.
very interesting, but it does scew things a little bit, the 1080ti is similar to 2080, but if you are happy with your 1080ti then I would be happy with 2080, i would prefer it over 2080ti as its quieter, cheaper, consumes less, and cooler, its not always about the most performance is the best.
but maybe there is something else a foot, maybe you can give FO4 and Hellblade a go, sweviver was having problems with those, there maybe some in-game option thatās allowing more performance such as internal SS there as well.
Yes, I will do that! Coming up!
that would be great,
I donāt know if you have VorpX but good games for VorpX are ones that have DirectVR, Geometry 3D and no aiming system, my personal small list is below;
Mirrors Edge
Oblivion (Melee play through) FOV fix FOV Modifier at Oblivion Nexus - mods and community
Dishonored
my guess is the aspect ratio games run at on the 5K+ is 16:9, as it was 8:9 with Rift/Vive, if you could look into VorpX with mirrors edge and oblivion (melee playthrough) that would be good, and to know the FOV change works as you will have to change it in the .ini file for mirrors edge from 120 to something like 180, I donāt think you would be able to get oblivion to 180 as the fan mod FOV fix may not go that high, havenāt looked into it myself for obvious reasons.
TAA destroys the game completely and the blur makes me almost motion sick this could be the reason why Seb needed to build new VR legs in Skyrim.
Turn off TAA, use max in game SS and use Pitool 1.5 then it looks beautiful and super sharp. But 2080Ti might be needed⦠for now 1.0 does it pretty ok on 1080Ti at least.
On Vive seems to be the opposite, the game is awful without TAA for me. Blur due too low framerate?
Vive lacks the pixels so everything looks very shimmery without TAA. On Pimax using high res it looks really great but only without TAA.
No the blur caused by TAA makes it all look strange and maybe the wide FOV makes it more apparent. I feel I lose the ādepthā having TAA on, as everything 10 meters away looks just too blurred and flat.
Because Sebastian wears glasses and toms hardware probably didnāt.
There has been an update to SteamVR a couple days ago. When i started Elite Dangerous (Vive) I noticed the game is much more āclearā or ācrispā. From the patch notes I think it could be this: Increased performance of the compositor distortion renderer by about 15%. It could be improvement just for Vive, so I want to ask if you have noticed some improvement in rendering in Pimax headsets ?
Interesting. Cant say Ive seen a noticeable difference, but I will do more tests tomorrow. Only difference I noticed in performance and image was after installing PiTool 76, but that was weeks ago now
hey, how did you guys got over the name changing part of the introduction? I got up to the point I get to name my char and I got the on screen keyboard but Iām stuck there. I canāt type anything, either with my keyboard or my controller (not vive controller - just a steam controller )
Im stuck there and the only thing I can do is just look aroundā¦
Any ideas?
