So to get this straight the colors are muted and don’t pop same as Index and reverb. Distortions and everything else is the same except for clarity. Voodoo’s sample has a dead panel. It’s tough to justify 1k on more of the same

If you believe @PimaxUSA its an Engineering sample that everyone on Pimax didnt clue him in and tell him that it was an engineering sample.

Actually Reverb has very dull colors… Worse than the 5K

I think I made quite a few threads on Pimax PR over the years. I just hope one day they will finally get it before its too late.

How does that make sense? Ive heard people say the 8K has better colors and you say the 5k+ has better colors than the Reverb and Voodoo says the 8K and 8K+ has the same colors but Sebastian says the 8K+ has worse colors than the reverb?

Colorswise.
8K+=8K>/=5K+>Reverb
But 8K+<Reverb?

I’ve been wrestling between the 5k+ and reverb for a good few weeks and my take is that the 5k+ looks more washed out no matter how I set contrast , brightness etc and they both look washed out compared to the gear-lens modded vive pro.

edit i think it’s just that the pixels are more densely packed on the reverb , the colours look more solid to my mince pies

I’m thinking the 8K+ is going to be the best headset for my computer budget but the 8KX could be switched to an 8K+ upscaled experience too so the 8KX makes for the better future investment.

what gpu are you using for the reverb and is it set to 2150 x 2150
I just ran a quick comparison in nature treks with the same scene and to be fair there is very little between the 5k+ and reverb colour/contrast wise , but the reverb colours look more solid to me
I will set up 2 pc’s later on so I can do a better comparison ,
i think the youtubers are running the 5k+ with un-tweaked colours and contrast too as that can make a big difference

Honestly this is something I feel I could be happy with for the foreseeable future given my experience of the 5k+. Until we get the equivalent in OLED I see no reason to ask for more, any excess GPU power I would be expending on boosting video settings in-game.

I have colors tweaked in Pitool and for me it’s quite a difference to the reverb…

If there was a trade-in program, I probably wouldn’t hesitate to get the 8K plus. But I’m not gonna keep the 5k+ that I’ve still not barely touched (due to no controllers or basestations) just sitting in the box for all eternity and spend another 1k $ on another new headset…
Even if there is a “amazing” discount for backers. I’ll stick to the 5k+ unless I can trade it in and add on like 300$, then I would probably do it, especially if it comes with the MAS (and it definitely comes with the vision kit so that’s also a plus).
