I think, Martin’s review will be to your taste had to take a break after 1H38
Indeed (still watching) has a great section on 8k vs 5k+.
Essentially a bit of a draw depending on game.
Sim Racing opinion 8k better for extreme distsnces.
Casual games & games like Skyrim opinion 5k+
Not too often in a sim, are you worried about extreme distances. I mean maybe for road turns, but usually you are paying way more attention to your current turn and other cars. I dunno, it’s going to be a hard decision for me as I do a lot of different things in VR. Right now leaning towards the 5k+. The only thing that may change my mind is the Nvidia bench marks.
Hard to say but with Sims probably more on rhe lines of flight & war sims where far off objects csn give you an edge. In car racing types maybe not. Though perhaps it might be good for using the Cars mirrors?
I think a lot comes down to personal perferances. Since even the 5k+ compares to Vive Pro as better visual quality. Either will be good over what folks are coming from.
4k users I would reccommend trying Vive Pro at a br experience Center. As the 5k+ is said to look better due to SDE vs Vive Pro. This will give you an idea of 5k as for SDE will be between the current 4k & Vive Pro. Imho based on checking out the Vive Pro.
Screen colors? The 8k v2 was considerably nicer & brighter.
Sebastian, does your opinion of the StarVR as the best headset still stand? Did you make your judgment before or after the latest distortion profile update for the M2?
He said StarVR was better in his AMA… but also that he couldn’t really review the StarVR because it was in a highly controlled environment and he only had an hour with it. But since StarVR isn’t for sale, the best consumer HMD crown goes to Pimax by default.
I recall he said that it was taking a long time to upload/process due to the large file size (~22 GB).
Also, a recommendation for @SweViver, @mixedrealityTV, @VoodooDE, and any other YouTubers. If you are trying to sync up your release times on your videos and you have the prep time, then you could upload the videos early as Private. Then all you have to do to sync your video releases is change the status to “Public” at the same time.
That should help when there is a potential for delays due to upload speed/processing time/ etc.

Let‘s say the OG Vive has an SDE of „100“ and the 8k of „5“. Where will the 5k+ be? I know it will be subjective but with more answers the range can be determined better. I wonder if that 5k+ SDE discussion is basically „Jammern auf hohem Niveau“ (complaining on a high comfort level, had to look it up ) or indeed a big decision factor. If the 5k+ has „20“ it is of course noticeable compared to the 8k but neglectable for my taste. If „50“ not so neglectable…
I think working with points (even if subjective) will give a far better overview for comparison instead of +_=. We’re talking edges that conclude decisions
