Loose Connection on Audio Jack in Pimax 5k+

Hi there,

I have a problem with my Audio Jack of my Pimax 5k+. My headset plays no sound on the left side anymore. By fiddling a little bit on the jack I found out that just by pressing the jack to the left or right side it works again but as soon as I stop pressing it, it stops playing sound as described.

By checking my Gaming statistics I found out that I only used the Jack around 20 times in total since I received my Pimax Headset. But due to the fact, I had to replace the original one once because of the following problem: https://community.openmr.ai/t/replied-pimax-5k-doesnt-wake-up-from-standby-mode/15387 I only even used the Jack around 10 times with the new Replacement Headset since I have it.

Anything I can do to fix this myself?

My best regards,
THO

P.s.: I am an 8k-X backer. The 5k+ was the one I won here in the forum :slight_smile:

Just use your other Pimax then. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There isn’t really a solution, just a few hacks that could help with connecting the left audio channel.
My favorite apart from RMA.is Decapper’s.

Maybe if we ask nicely, @Decapper will be so kind and post a picture for us.

I lost all my sound from the Pimax 8K. A different USB port solved it instantly.

Lots of us with this issue of faulty audio jack. I’ve asked several times on the forum if pimax would honour the warranty on other parts of the hmd if we fix the audio jack ourselves. No answer every time.

Not an answer is also an answer and in this case i would assume its a no from Pimax side.

Might be the wrong approach not to give a clear “no” from Pimax’s side, but i guess thats all just false courtesy.

Good news. Got the go ahead on my Supen to fix the audio jack myself and they will still honour warranty. It’ll have to wait a while, life has me too busy at the moment.

@Flinnt
It would be VERY Great from you, if you make photos while repairing the headset to give others a step by step manual how to do it themselfs.

Will do. It’ll be a little while though, and I’ll be following sjfdeklerks photos myself on how to get it open.
