Seeing as the moderators for some reason hid the previous thread on this (by renaming and then merging) I thought I’d re-start it.
So we’ve now been told that there are not going to be any new headsets or anything to do with wireless so I’m at a lose as to what these announcements could be - bar an announcement of a takeover.
Just to clarify, this is not a general Pimax Now discussion thread but a specific speculation thread on the BIG announcements promised by Kevin back in April!!
Kevin (PimaxUSA) said that it wasn’t that either. I have some ideas as to what announcements might be made, but I’m going to avoid speculation this close to the Pimax Now event.
Distortion is very easy to fix!
It is the face shape! If the lens is too far on the eye then you will see distortion!
Solution: The upholstery on the face has to get thicker!
There should be several to adjust it, or the distance from the lens to the hood must be adjustable as with the index!
Kevin also always points to this but imho that is not a proof of anything but that VR newbees do not know what to look for. I doubt that without eye-tracking an out-of-the-box-“no distortion”-experience is possible for 90+ % of the people. Unless you really know how to dial your pimax in to your individual needs. And i must say that it is just fact that pimax headsets have that distortion problem but others simply do not have it (at least for me). I am pretty certain that this has to do with the wide-fov, but tbh how should pimax know how to correct for a distortion free experience automaticly with soon available eye-tracking, if they do not know right now why so many users have that problem in first place…
The comfort kit sounds like it is a step in the right direction. But still i read of many who experience distortion or other issues despite using the ck.
On topic: i am really curious about what pimax will announce. A new upgrade option? Hmm. I think it will be an upgrade option for the soon released 8kx. 100$ or so and you are able to upgrade to a new version which boosts hz up to 120Hz via new hdmi 2.1 chips which will be available to trade in the 80Hz version early 2021.
They need to do that unless they smack all backer in their faces with delivering soon an 80hz headset and in h1 next year an upgrade hdmi 2.1 8kx-version.
It is a pettty that the 8kx is massively delayed. But the good side is that interface successer chips are available in quantity soon. Also new wireless chips for low energy - high bandwidth -low latency wifi.
I think they will probably announce a new discount for accessories for backers as a sort of apology for stringing everyone along for 3 years but not much more. Of course status updates on 8kx and mas as well.
My 8K+ worked right out of the box. I guess I must be one of the lucky ones. I did adjust the IPD.
But I did not see any difference. I hoping they talk more about the MAS and the difference between the deluxe and the standard version also about pre orders. I will not be able to watch it live because of work so I do hope they will tape if and I can watch it after work.
