I’ve been using my Pimax 5k+ with a Lighthouse 1.0 but our studio now has access to a couple Lighthouse 2.0 base stations.
I find that if I set one up the Pimax will detect it and they work, but through SteamVR there is no way to get into the settings for the base station to adjust the channel or other options.
I find that if I connect up the link box from an OG HTC Vive, that does make bluetooth available on the PC, but that headset does not detect the Lighthouse 2.0. When I go back to the Pimax, then the bluetooth is no longer available.
Is it possible to use Lighthouse 2.0 base stations with the Pimax and get into the settings in SteamVR?
I am not sure about which settings do you speak (channel or other options)? Are they V2 exclusive? I have not seen anything like that on V1 lighthouses when using Vive, or Pimax.
The Lighthouse 2.0 Base Stations have channels. 0-15 I believe. Each one needs to be on a different channel. You can switch them by pressing a paper clip through a little hole on the back, but there is no way to tell what channel one is using outside SteamVR. With a Vive Pro, you can check through SteamVR. There should also be settings as far as power control.
I guess this is something which the LH transmits by the laser, so it would be up to the headset (or the controller) to report the channel to the SteamVR. Could be that Pimax has just not implemented it.
The Power Management via BT seems to work only when the Vive headset is attached as it has the BT LE adapter inside.
Anyone with experience using Lighthouse 2.0 Base Stations have input? I kind of wonder if it would make any difference if I uninstall and re-install PiTool and go through the initial setup now that I have the 2.0 Lighthouse?
you should at least delete the pimax stuff from your userprofile in windows (appdata) there are information about the lighthouses stored
in theory the ir laser signal carry’s the information what LH was sending the signal (sync on beam), and pimax is working over a year with LH 2.0 units internal so i’m pretty sure pimax implemented everything whats needed to use LH 2.0
Peripherals with V1 sensors (ie the OG Vive + wands) aren’t forwards compatible with V2 Lighthouses, so you can’t get tracking on the OG Vive with the new lighthouses.
