The 8k doesn’t seem to be a convincing upgrade to the 5k+
both have their pros and cons and the 5k+ seems more versatile
So if we backed a pimax8K and trusted pimax to build the next generation of headsets
Can we purchase the difference from a 8K to a 8KX and therefore switch to the 8kx when ready ?
I believe this is also a great thing for Pimax because this is going to allow them to push the 8kx even more
the 8k x is only a limited run of 400units. I don,t understand where people get the idea that it will ever be a full production headset. it will not. If anything, ther might be something else developed from the idea. My bet is that Pimax will develop something in the neighborhood of an 8 k per eye with fov. rendering, and all the other goodies incorporated.
All i’m asking is to upgrade to a different pledge and it’s up to them to tell us if it’s doable
Pretty sure others would be interested as well
If they can make 400headsets, they can make 20 more for those who would decide to upgrade their pledges
Besides It makes no sense for them to limit the availability of the 8KX if they can successfully produce it
with competitors like the StarVR or the new half dome Occulus headset they might want to remain competitive
If you consuder the completion none are going past the 5k that are out (Xtal) or nearing available (StarVR). StarVR even lowered the resolution.
The 8k-X is meant to be limited as gpu power is not likely there yet at least not in a single card.
It would be interesting for Eurogamer to Revisit 8k qUHD gaming. Last time not so good results. I think it metered 30fps on Low settings? So 8k-X being half that might give you 60fps?
