Is small fov 120hz mode on the 8K+/8KX a possibility for the future?

They didn’t seem confident that it would be. I don’t think those panels can do 120 at any fov

Maybe Brainwarp 2.0 can swoop in and save the day. After all, the 5k+ 120hz mode uses Brainwarp 1.5.

Its about whether the panels are capable of pushing that refresh rate. Brainwarp could help provide the extra frames though.

BW can give us the extra frames, question is whether the panels can display them.

I think the main problem is getting the signal down the display port cable, not what the panels can handle.

It definitely has to do with how much data both the cable and bridgechips can process, which is why the 5k+ can only do it at small fov.

Yeah it seem 8k Brainwarp might be a bust.

Suspect as they said the 5k+ panel is capable of higher Overclock? If so panel life might be affected.

BW concept that was on KS doesn’t generate any new frames but is a trick having say in 5k+ each panel running asynchronous displays vs being in Sync. Result a slight delay causes 1 eye momentarily sees nothing giving a perceived frame doubling effect.

As far as I know a 120hz mode is not possible on any of the Vision models. But who knows the engineers might surprise us.

Are they native 120hx panels in them like the 5k+?

I would say at this point, I wouldn’t even get surprised if they manage to make it work with 8K as well, at some point. Quite an achievement from them making that 120 mode to work ok a 5K+. Keeps me confident.

Since the 8K-X has the bridge chip to handle 4k 72hz 1920x2160 at 120hz should be doable as long as the panels can switch that fast.

I might have understood it wrong. But it’s not really 120 hz right? I mean the panels work at 60 hz and are then timed async. That’s why pimaxusa said it would only work with brainwarp. But correct me if I am wrong.
