Is it possible to check if your PC is able to move Pimax before buying it?

Hi,

i mean if you can run any kind of tester on your PC without connecting the glasses in order to see if your PC is powerful enough to move the Pimax. The official GPU requirement is a GTX960… but this GPU seems not to be powerful enough

I have a Phenom II x4 with a GTX960. My goal is to play Project cars with the Pimax. The game runs decently in 1080p (displayed on a monitor), but i don’t know what will happen with Pimax (1080p x2 eyes).

Can I emulate this scenario (play the game generating two 1080p screens) in some way?

Just install the SteamVR performance test found under Library-Tools in Steam.
That will tell you if your setup can run VR.

Thanks for your advice.

The result is CAPABLE (nor ready).
I think capeable means you are able to play only simple games, doesn´t it? So i will not be able to play Project Cars with Pimax unless i buy another GPU.(in fact, the result recommend buy a better GPU).

In your experience, this test result is realistic? This means i will not buy the glasses now

Thanks again for you response

Correction: Sorry, I meant to respond to Damango.

Its hard to answer without an English translation of the result. Could you include it? This may help:

I would suggest you do a Google search for additional help. Also, I don’t think your result is specific to PIMAX so you would have to improve the performance to use another HMD.

Your system is able to generate medium quality RV, but it doesn´t meet the recommended specifications…

We recommend you to install a more powerful graphic card.
You can also update yout graphic card controllers…

I´ve the latest controllers.
I’ve enabled steam fps counter and i see (in Project cars 1060x1050);

  • 80fps (playing alone)
  • 38fps (playing with many cars around)

I think my hardware needs an update in order to use VR glasses

Hi, I had a GTX970 and have been wanting to upgrade it for a while but just could not warrant the huge amount being asked for the newest 1080s so in the end I went for an MSI Armor 1070 and am doing a bit of overclocking which its good for… The 1070 has many if not all the new features of the 1080s and is 80-90% of the speed of the basic 1080 model when overclocked at 2/3rds the price, in fact I was able to buy the Pimax with the money saved so I get a new card and my first foray into VR…
