As soon as I go to the later Pitools >258+ the GPU utilization goes down and I cant hit the 90fps.
(all tested with the AI race feature, same track same cars etc)
The catalyst feature seems to work abit on the GPU utilization, but around 1.75 is the max I can go before I get frame timing issues , but catalyst boost is not enough to get it to 253, 254A levels.
Its a bit of a pain as I want to run 110HZ and its disappointing that the GPU more than likely has the grunt to get it there, but the Pitool seems to be the limiting factor
Has anyone got any thoughts on the catalyst function to get it somewhere near the 249-253 pitool?
Have others noticed a dip in FPS GPU utilization on the later PItool versions?
( im not a fan of smart smoothing for iracing as any lag in the input to that game means you get poor results )
Could someone comment on their experience with steam VR.
Same game (iracing) I usually set the pitool renderer at 1.25 ( to improve the 8k+ visuals) and let Steam VR decide what’s best by clicking auto, so on my card it says 88% on large,
Jump into the game and the FPS flips around usually drops for 90 to around 85 and then stutters alittle.
So query I have is, tonight I just set Steam VR at 100% custom, and jumped back in instantly locked back in at 90fps and no stutter, jumped back out set at 88% SVR and back in the game …stutter and 85fps, changed back to 100% stutter gone and back to 90fps.
Does Steam VR muck things up by changing the render quality? anybody comment if this happens to them, or maybe if its just because its being down scaled? maybe doesnt happen on the up scale Steam VR setting?
Interesting… would be nice to see some other experiences, I will try to do that as soon as I can (which will not be before the week end i fear).
Edit: Since I dont have IRacing, is there other Games you noticed that? So it should work in general? (Maybe we have another in common like ACC, DCS, PC2, Dirt Rally 2.0, Skyrim, Alyx, Boneworks …)
if you are still testing this, could you take a note of what resolution is recommended in SteamVR at same Pitool setting (same FOV, HZ, quality multiplier) for different Pitool version? I mean this (Resolution per eye):
