Please Pimax team, don’t do what they’ve done on the Samsung Odyssey, but rather keep it as it is on the Vive:

when adjusting the IPD on the pimax there should pop up the corresponding IPD value inside the headset.
when you turn the IPD knob on the vive you get realtime feedback on the screen, showing the exact IPD value meassured in millimeter
Should be pretty easy for Pimax since they’re already running their own renderer, they can always simply inject a bar like that. Or alternatively I think SteamVR also offers overlay’s.

Do you know how Vive measures the distance? Is there some kind of digital rule integrated into the headset or is it simply hardcoded to the knob position?
And if the latter, is there a way to re-calibrate the measurement?
As I saw the video of Pimax implementation, I assume they can only move the lenses by turning the knob. If there is no way to re-calibrate this movement correctly, then the visual IPD in the view will be meaningless, because it will not be reproducible on different headsets (with different hardcoded values).
Having the absolutes will only make sense, if you could grab two different headsets and if set them to the same IPD values, they will actually have the same IPDs.
Never opened my VIVE but I’m pretty sure they use a rotary encoder on the rail the screens are mounted on.
No idea how they do it, but as @ioi655321 wrote, it probably is a rotary encoder
