Index Controllers appear far away

Nope not if your problem is not solved

is it chaperone_info.vrchap? @MrAhlefeld

When I switched from 5k+ to 8kx I had tracking, but wrong positioned. I had to uninstall steam vr and delete all tracks of it, and then also uninstall pitool and all tracks of it ( there are several of booth, ask google).
After that with new install it is ok now.

Ps; I tried to uninstall, clear leftovers, restart and again install separately pitol, and then steam vr - that didnā€™t help.

Hereā€™s the Quick and dirty (no not really) (if PiTool uninstaller did remove all itā€™s remnants alot of manual work would not be needed, im sure some steps could be skipped but hey at least itā€™s a Clean install)

  1. Uninstall Pitool via Add or remove programs
  2. Delete C:\ProgramData\pimax
  3. Delete C:\Program Files\pimax
  4. Delete C:\Users\ YourUserHere\AppData\Local\Pimax
  5. Delete C:\Users\ YourUserHere\AppData\Local\PiTool
  6. Delete C:\Users\ YourUserHere\AppData\LocalLow\Pimax
  7. Delete C:\Users\ YourUserHere\AppData\Roaming\PiTool
  8. Delete C:\Steam\config\chaperone_info.vrchap (or what ever drive your Steam installation is on)
  9. Install newest PiTool
  10. Install (if this is your preference Pimax VR Experience)
  11. Run PiTool Room Setup
  12. Run SteamVR Room Setup

And your done.

To answer your question.
There are 2 chaperone_info.vrchap files.
First is in C:\ProgramData\pimax\runtime\chaperone_info.vrchap (you deleted this in Step 2)
Second is in your Steam client install folder ā€œmine is inā€ D:\Steam\config\chaperone_info.vrchap

Worked for me this morning.
Cheers

Il give this a shot soon, thanks!

thank you for this @MrAhlefeld, unfortunately even all this didnt solve my problem. Thank you for trying though

Thatā€™s odd, might you have Steam installed somewhere else or have had it installed somewhere else ?
Try searching for chaperone_info.vrchap on all your disks.

No I found it and deleted it, it just didnā€™t work. Pimax is saying itā€™s a hardware issue and started the rma process.

Guys I think that booth steamvr and pitool have their own copies of vr universe (room, positioning, angles, controllersā€¦), and booth must be terminated, uninstalled, and all their leftovers erased AT SAME TIME!!! Each of them has a copy of universe, and make your controllers floating - that will be copied on reinstalled program also.
Try this, it was successful with my pc.

I do not see uninstall steamvr? Just erasing some steamvr files

https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamVR/chaperone_info.vrchap

it lives in .\Steam\config
and for some odd reason there is a derived copy of it in C:\ProgramData\pimax\runtime
(that would be number 2 & 8 in my ā€œguideā€ that deleted that file
