I'm gonna call my TPU experiment a success!

The CAD thing was my first plan. It would be simpler if the lenses were flat. After that first application, it’s clear that there’s a give and take between the added dimension due to the curved projection of the lens, and the fact that the TPU material is pretty stretchy and that you want to pull it down onto the lenses to avoid creasing (due to the convex surface of the lens) which necessitates under-sizing things a bit. I think you’d need to yank a lens out and do a few test runs to develop the optimal shape.

Seeing that Dallas Hao seems to be putting out feelers, there’s a chance Pimax might develop something. That would be a killer little add-on. I don’t think any other HMD makers have gone to that extent.

Bumping this. I scratched the lenses on my Vive Pro because I did not realize that my glasses were touching. I knew that they were close but I did NOT realize that any physical exertion causes the hmd to move, frequently against my glasses. The “Healing Shield” protectors not only protected my lenses from further scratches, they also eliminated the scratches that were already there.
In my opinion, you should make sure that anyone who wears glasses knows that they need to apply these. The current issue where we are not getting the thicker foam face pads makes this very important at this time.
Thank you.
And Thank you for my Pimax!

Did you ever get around to redoing your lenses? Do you still have any of your old ones around? If so, could you trace one out on a piece of paper and post a copy? That way I could download it and use it as a template to cut my own…
Anyone?

Edit: A Note for anyone coming here.
The Healing Shields for your phones are flat. Even if you trim them to size, you’re attempting to make a flat sheet fit a curved surface.
The Healing Shields for your watch are curved. Therefore they have a natural fit for our hmd’s. However, the biggest they come is 50mm. This is not big enough to cover the lenses. Almost but not quite. I will be using these and I’ll post whether or not I can see the edges. I’m assuming that I will not be able to see the areas that are not covered. We’ll see.
