OK, still better having uploaded non compressed images.

Mrtv live German Podcast 5 min ago : mrtv ( Sebastian) said the 8k X is no match for the g2 . The Immersion is better in the g2 because of colours

I don’t have an 8KX but I do have the G2 as of yesterday. It’s a nice headset. I liked the CV1 style so naturally like the G2 fit. It’s crisp dead centre but blurs quickly from centre. You don’t notice the blur in games just when looking at a wall of text or a desktop. The FOV seems slightly larger than Q2 for me though with the Q2 I’m at IPD 3 so I see hard vertical borders either side. Generally the reviews have been spot on clarity and colour wise. I still can’t understand the off ear speaker design for VR gear. The guys who came up with it must live alone with no kids. Going into VR and still hearing the real world is just wrong. If the 8KX is near the clarity and colours and it suits the owners head/optics then the extra FOV would be worth it for sure. I enjoyed the 5K+ but it had slowly pushed me from VR with the fiddling and optical strain that came with using it.

It’s not, I find the clarity and colours of the quest 2 are better than the 8KX, and the G2 is supposed to be even better. Very much looking forward to getting my G2.

So true, so true… :joy:

Well, that’s the same with the 8KX. No actually, for me it’s even more of an effort and I have not yet found a setting which was entirely comfortable. But I have to say I haven’t given it a try for 6-8 weeks now - as you say, the finicky trouble-shooting & adjustment orgy of using the 8KX had tired me to a degree where I just chose to do other stuff when I had some minutes to spare. It was like having to wash the dishes rather than an exciting prospect.

I will still give it a last chance when my G2 arrives as I want to know if the 8KX at least has a place as a special purpose headset, for those few experiences which are dear to me and profit substantially from a greater FoV to be worth the pain, like Skyrim VR.

But the lack of eye comfort so far, and the combination of PiTool and SteamVR settings to juggle, even with Pimax Experience around, have been quite discouraging to this user. Add to it the slowly dwindling prospect of getting real effective DFR through the eye-tracking module, and I am leaning towards retiring (read: selling) the 8KX at the moment. But I am still far from having made the call.

Can’t agree with this, 8kx is sharper than quest 2 and immersion of wide fov is a landslide better than q2, only thing I find quest 2 interesting is portability, software refinement and the price/resolution ratio.

I can’t imagine there would be many that aren’t impressed with the G2. It certainly is a notch or two above the Q2 in both regards. Comfort and fit are far superior as well. Not a fan of the fairy light controllers. But they do the job. Hopefully a third party sees an opportunity.

The G2 has certainly renewed my interest/excitement in VR. Though I think there is room for people to be disappointed initially on first trying the G2 given the hype. Expectation and reality, as is often the case with tech gear, rarely meet.

Agreed…8kx is MUCH sharper than Q2 for me also. I don’t find much difference in the colors between the two. At least not enough to be immediately noticeable.

I have both the Q2 and the 8KX… and the 8KX have a sharper image than que Q2.

Over VD at maximum settings, the difference is less than with the link, but it still noticeable.

And all the tests made with the Wide FOV.
