As we know, there’s not a breakout box for the p8k. That being said, where is it deriving power from?

My guess is the USB 3.0 port. Since that’s one of the headset requirements, I recently bought an add-in board, because I have an older motherboard with no USB 3.0 ports.

looks like usb, until the wireless module is ready , then you can have a battery pack

i mean we have seen the cabling set up. so i would guess usb.
I dont think/know if you could plug the 8k into a vive linkbox, but it does raise question of like, i presume you have to keep the linkbox plugged in right. for the vive controllers. actually the more i think about it the more i have no idea how it will work. XD
