Help in installing an older version of steam vr

Hello, i have followed this tutorial but for whatever reason when I start SteamVR and check its version , it is always the latest version of steamvr and not the older version i am trying to install

open the Steam Console

download three packages of the old steamvr version I want to install by entering some command lines

go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\

rename the newer SteamVR folder to a different name to back it up

create a new empty SteamVR folder for the older version of steamvr I am installing

put the contents of the 3 downloaded folders into new empty SteamVR Folder

restart SteamVR and check the version

As I said, the older version of steamvr is not installed.

What am I doing wrong?

Never tried this but I do know that if your machine is connected to the internet steam will patch itself to the latest version if it finds its out of date

There is a way to block that inserting a code line though. I am trying going off line when I am installing the older version now. Good point and thank you!

Hi fouravy.

In your library :

>Right click on steamVR
>Properties
>Updates

There is only 3 options in ‘Automatic updates’:

1- Alway keep this tool uptodate
2- Update this tool only when it is launched.
3- High priority : Alway keep this tool uptodate

Which could be translated for a laugh a little by

1- ALWAYS KEEP THIS TOOL UPTODATE !
2- ALWAYS KEEP THIS TOOL UPTODATE !
3- ALWAYS KEEP THIS TOOL UPTODATE !

So the only thing you can do is work ‘offline’ to prevent updates.

It is kind of a pain in the butt and it might not work either

Some instructions are here.

You have to look for the proper AppID, DepotID and ManifestID based on the steamvr version you want to revert back to.
