French shop selling 8K Plus already

This shop seems to be selling the 8K Plus already. Probably preordered a few really early on to sell them at a profit (they have a very small quantity). They’re of course sold without the MAS.
As a backer who also preordered I’m a bit annoyed that people like this push us further down the queue.
Compared to the official Pimax store there’s a $335 markup + whatever the MAS costs if they get it separately afterwards (differences shipping and taxes not taken into account).

Someone on a German forum received one of them two days ago (shipping took 3 days). They didn’t write a lot, what they said in the last few posts is basically:

  • SDE only visible when there’s no movement and you really look for it.
  • Colours and black levels “good”, they noticed nothing negative in that regard.
  • Noticed no distortions with large FOV.
  • Image quality overall described as “impressive” and VR 2.0 (The user also owns Rift, Rift S, Odyssey+, Reverb, Index, Pimax 5k+ and the Quest)
  • The only downside mentioned is painful pressure on the nose when wearing it with the included headstrap.

Whomever put up that ad needs to do some fact-checking…and math  “screen resolution (3840 * 2160 * 2)…Total resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels”

As for “people like this push us further down the queue,” Pimax supposedly shipped out 70% of 8k+ units to backers and preorders this last week. Their original plan was to hold off shipping to us until the MAS was ready, which is why the retailers who didn’t care about the MAS got theirs first. And I wouldn’t be surprised if this particular shop just bought some of the ones from Chinese retailers and put them up for sale with their own additional markup.

I really hope the “painful pressure on the nose” is due to the old face interface & has been dealt with by the MAS.
As someone who had to bring the bottom of my 5k & 8k out with Velcro to get it off of the bridge of my nose, i remember those first days of painful vr play.

I’m sure this wouldn’t be a problem with the MAS.
I didn’t hear anyone mention it at CES

I don’t understand why companies wouldn’t be allowed to back too… Their activity is regulated by law, it’s better than these guys who sell twice the price on ebay.

Actually in Poland there is also a reseller and on their website they state they’re an official Pimax distributor here (not giving any links, it’s easy to Google it anyway). Well, I don’t know if its ok if you consider the backers, either way I prefered to pay the extra cash to get my unit delivered asap (ordered it on Saturday). So I presume I will get mine tomorrow CET. I don’t care too much about the MAS - there’s no problem to connect headphones which will probably offer you better quality than even the Deluxe kit, so it doesn’t bother me. Especially that I plan to use the set with my 3DOF simulator and to watch movies, I don’t play games with VR controllers, I’m too lazy ;). Anyway maybe I’ll post some feedback on the forums, as there’s a lot of stuff on the 8KX, but not too much on the Vision 8K Plus. Besides I’m not sure if a single 2080Ti will handle native 4K for each eye in driving sims at a reasonable framerate if you play on High Settings. Will see how the image quality looks like, I just hate SDE and that’s my main reason why I switch from the 5K+, which actually I liked much more than Vive and Oculus due to the bigger FOV (at seated position the strap wasn’t a nightmare, but the HMD was still moving a bit, so also looking forward to see if the comfort kit will be a nice improvement in that sector).
