Bethesda just released the minimum specs for fo4 and it requires a 1070 to run on the Vives much lower resolution. The Pimax already requires a 1070 to run normal VR games, so with more power intensive games like fallout my guess is that a 1070 wouldn’t cut it at all. Is anyone else concerned about this?
Next series of nvidia cards should be coming out around the start of next year.
I’m not worried.
Wow you cant be serious, what did you expect…If you can afford the Pimax surely you can afford a 1080ti.
That’s not true at all, in my country upgrading to a 1080ti would cost almost double what it did to back the base 8k headset. On top of that this isn’t about being able to afford anything, this is about discussing the realistic minimum specs of the Pimax. I wonder how many people backed the Pimax on the promise of it working with their 1070? Now games are coming out requiring a 1070 when operating on a much lower res hmd.
Technically maybe a 1070 is the minimum but it’s a stretch, especially considering everyone’s answer so far has just been telling me to get the most powerful GPU’s available.
New games come out all the time upping the requirements thats just the way it is.
It’s been a month…
Its been several years actually for this new batch of virtual reality headsets. As such the games coming out are much more advanced technologically then the earlier ones. Keep in mind FO4VR and Doom as well are a step up in requirements for everyone in the vr playspace not just Pimax backers. Like I said thats just the way it is. Anyway people backing a headset with such a step up in resolution and fov should have been well aware of the fact that any game out now will struggle and as new games get released that divide was only going to get bigger.
The p8k is intended to be a very high end device, it was always going to have high requirements.
I don’t think anyone should have expected a 1070 to get them very far into the future with this HMD. It will work but c’mon it’s a year and a half old. Which means the technology of the Pascal series cards is more like 3 years old (there is a large gap between developing technology and consumer release).
Those minimum specs don’t surprise me at all. I have a 1080ti so I’m obviously not concerned but there aren’t “that” many 1080ti owners out there. Then again there aren’t that many Pimax 8k backers either.
. We are really only going to know for sure what we need pre pimax launch if we straight up ask them to test fallout 4 on the pimax, which there will be plenty of time to do .
A GTX 1070 is the minimum system for both Vive and Oculus, it’s not something special for that game. Just expect that the Pimax is going to require a more expensive card for the same quality, because it’s a higher resolution per-eye.
Edit: Forgot, Oculus lowered their minimum system specs when they introduced Asyncronous Timewarp, which made it so games only need to reach 45fps instead of 90fps; now their minimum system is a 960 or 1050ti
But I think you should be. I own a watercooled Titan X Pascal that has a slight edge over a 1080 TI and I am concerned.
Will it work with the 8K? Sure it will. We will be turning down details left and right though I am pretty sure.
