Elite Dangerous Setup Guide - Lets make it Dark Again :)

Yep, already have done this. I believe you can choose 0, 1, or 2 and the place change it to 0 is just below that, correct?

It was already running very slow on the 2080 before I did these mods.

I really enjoy how your mods look but now it is giving my system issues. Keep getting the blue screen of death but now my ED Profiler is not working. It says the error is in the graphics folder. When I erase and start over, itā€™s fine. I want your modā€¦ is there anything you might think will fix the issue?

For years, when I upgraded my boot drive, I just cloned the old disk. That meant, even though I was running Windows 10, it was on top of a crufty* old Win 7 install. The registry was full of obsolete crap. This last time, I started with a fresh new install on my 1TB NVMe SSD.

I really like the resulting performance and stability increase for my PC, so you might want to consider a fresh install of Win 10.

*Crufty: Cruft is jargon for anything that is left over, redundant and getting in the way. It is used particularly for superseded and unused technical and electronic hardware and useless, superfluous or dysfunctional elements in computer software.

Update on the blue screen, I resolved it with removing drivers and reinstalling. It is not your code! Now I just need to get my FPS up with your settings. So weird that 1080ti acheives 45-80 FPS and my 2080 gets 15-25. Iā€™ll continue to figure it out.

I even hit 90 fps (in space) and ~65 fps in other situations on 1080ti when removed haze ( Migoto mod)
Now Iā€™m running ED on RTX 2080 ti highly OC. But still your very low fps are very weird. My steam vr show ~ 3700x 3100 pix. per eye. Are you sure you have exact the same resolutions ? How is your card temps? How other games with this resolutions works in your system ? Is your ambient oclusion ( game option ) is off ?

I havenā€™t had time to check fps with other games but here are my stats with ED while flying out in the black. What do you think? See anything? Edit: the GPU usage is usually between 90-99%

Have you tried game super sampling at 0.65 and HMD at 1.25?

Yes. Didnā€™t change anything. Shouldnā€™t the manual resolution take over the application resolution? I change 200 to 100 but the elitedangerous.exe only comes up in VR after I start the game. I did manage to change it to 100% but only brought it up to 35-40 FPS.

Why are you setting the res for the app at 200%? I think youā€™re running rwice that reported in SVR

Yeah youā€™re running at 5016x - thatā€™s madness for a 2080. And also running at SS 1.0

Try removing the app based override. Run SSVR at 45%, PT 1.0, SS in game at 0.65, HMD 1.2
With this I only get 50-60 in stations with overclocked 2080Ti, 8700K
Remember that you are rending two screens, so youā€™re trying to render 10000x

I thought when I set the manual resolution that it disabled the application resolution? I did turn it down to 100% to get the 3700x3200 resolution but still pretty low FPS

@Tyleristall yep, looks like override by another app ( fpsVR ) , you should not have there 200 % but exact the same like your steam VR show ( 60 % global & 100 % apps) !! I hope you are not bumping up resolutions also in OpenVr Advance Settings. You messed your config using too many SS . Try to avoid that . PiTool 1.25 and Steam Vr 60 % and you are ready to go for 90 fps in space

ā€¦post deletedā€¦

I am running 1080 Ti with following settings and @Yata_PL config (except some cosmetic tweaks I described earlier), my PC is R5 2600X + 16GB DDR4 3200:

PiTool rendering quality: 1.0
SteamVR manual override: 120%

I have not changed any application specific SS settings, so I assume for ED it should 1.0 (or 100%). In-game settings is:

HMD quality 1.0
SS 1.0
I have 5k+ and SteamVR shows me the resolution 4220x3605 and recommended SS 42% (but I insist on 120%.

The game runs smooth enough for me, I have not checked the FPS rigorously, but it looks like it makes 60-70 FPS in a hangar.

Below are my settings (as you can see @Yata_PL is becoming a popular moniker in my config ):

I guess you are explorer becouse 4220x3605 is unplayble for me at RES & CZ  Anyway 60~70 fps in hangar is still good score

How do I make it so app res and any other res is not being used except manual steamVR and PiTool?

I donā€™t know , only trying to help you. My gpu frametime is always between 10~14 ms. Your from the screen you pasted on forum is 38 ms. If not other apps doing that than what else gives yous so poor results ? Gfx card is throtling ? No idea , just in case I would unistall aps which can change SS , meybe there is bug and they not working properly with your HW.

Capture

Go to Applications, find ED, then make it stick with global setting

Thanks! :+1: Those settings should be a great place for me to start, since I have a 2080, which is similar to a 1080Ti, in terms of performance.

Hey Neal, what program do you use for closing? Replacing my OS drive.
