Easy and cheep positional head tracking

Checkout vicovr a bluetooth mobile tracking solution with a kinect like sensor. 30fps and apparently works well.

Another idea is old cell phones with good cameras.

Baby monitor 720p @ 30fps
D link is the same

I just managed to get positional using the Daley Tech tutorial videos plus driver4vr.

This is my very cheap positional tracking system. A clip on battery powered light shoved into a pingpong ball. It works but needs configuring properly, angles are strange, walking in wrong direction etc. But it does work.

Cost maybe 2 usd.

Worth 8.5 euro.
Free demo gives 10 minutes and then a restart.

Yeah, that is disappointing. Same as walkinvr, hampered by DRM. I hope he doesn’t do the same there. If it is 8.5 for a lifetime purchase then fair enough.

For the moment though I am not sure it works that well. 10 mins isn’t enough.

8.5 is now. At first it was free for weeks 3.
Then it seems to plan to raise up to 15 but apparently when it completes other functions.
As I understand it is necessary to pay once to join the gold club.

Well, even without an working Pimax 4K for now, I went ahead and bought that driver immediately but upon payment, there was an message about payment accepted & something about Username being empty, please contact them, LOL.

The payment went through but the site may not be ready to all.

Got the priorities down.

This was resolved by the dev. rather quickly, Had to re-register as “Driver4VR Friend” & then got upgraded to Driver4VR Gold.

Great work guys. So we got now 30$ max 6DoF for Pimax. Still much better deall than 200.

Any posible video or I’m asking too much pleas?

Hmmm…

Anyone know if something like amazon’s fire phone could ne used as a tracking idea?

Hello everybody
A question about http://www.driver4vr.com.
I need only a Kinekt 360 and the driver for headtracking?
No Pingball?

And apologies for my English I am German  My Pimax is still on the road and I am still looking for inforamations what I need everything

greeting
Daniel

There is a video here, by savor savor (not sure who that is on the Pimax forums):

It works and looks pretty much like that, and as described in the Daley Tech videos. Only difference is the driver4vr driver, which is very easy to set up.

I have only tried it for 10 mins because of the limit. When I buy it eventually I will report back. Will be a while though, payday is a long way off.

I dont have a kinect but I am pretty sure you won’t need the ball because kinect doesn’t track coloured balls like psmove does. That said I don’t know how well the driver works for kinect.

Awesome ideas. Note those of us with hydra.

I also found an instructable to rewire kinect plug to convert back to usb & power

At the moment, driver4vr does not support kinect but is on the list. Freepie works as kinect and nolo while in the project.

Monitors just the right driver.
Crony showed the work with the psmove services: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMn5b6_-HKQ

Hey folks that are using 1.2.85 pinate is having trouble

The disadvantage of kinect is that it has to allocate the usb bandwidth singly, it has bad compatibility, and sometimes it may fail to trace due to the hmd that covers the head, resulting in stuttering.
Kinect was useful until nolo was released, but now I think nolo is better in terms of trace quality and cost effectiveness.

The advantage of ping pong ball is that it can be used like a vive tracker. The developers of psmoveservice will develop through their leisure time, so the progress will be slow but will continue to be updated. It is expected to become even more exciting in the future.

Yes and major thing is Pingpong ball+driver4vr+2xPS3 Eye cost 30$ and Kinect+driver4vr more than 100$.

I bought myself 2 cameras for 10 dollars
