Pimax have only directional tracking true gyroscope sensors and missing positional tracking for full 6DoF 3D experiance.
It is verry importhant in sims especially flight sims for full imersion inside cockpit.
There was solution with playstation PS move controller but here is prove how to simulate PSmove with just few LEDs and pinkponk ball and this will cost you just few buck$.
Awesome post! I have added a link to your topic in diy positional tracking. Pingpong ball definitely easier than 3d printing one.
I ran across the video earlier but doesn’t it only pertain to mobile/phone vr solutions?
Same as Nolo for 200$ now.
If you recheck diy positional tracking there is a post about 3d printing the sphere for a headset. Tho i haven’t explored using psmove solution; i do recall folks strapping a move controller for head tracking.
I have build one allready. There is slight broplem… there is no easy way get it to work with pimax software. at least not yet.
lets hope that pimax software will be able to get external positional information from freepie after next update when they add nolovr compatibility.
How about in steamvr?
But yes @PIMAX-Support it would be awesome to implement plugin support.
Hi guys, please kindly move to this post http://community.openmr.ai/t/hello-nolo-piplay-nolo-customized-driver-beta-version-piplay-1-2-85/2311
This seems very interesting too:
Although it seems it’s not head tracking but just 2 controllers.
Look I’m not interested in Pimax + Nolo because is more expensive than Rift CV1. CV1 working perfectly.
When you compare general VR imersion after all pro and cons CV1 ia better buy than Pimax+Nolo.
Only way I’m thinking about buying Pimax is third part cheep 6DoF tracking solution.
All VR are generally overpriced.
This is not thread about Nolo just an opposite. F… Nolo, just another overpriced garbage.-
That’s purely subjective. I’d never buy the Oculus because of the huge SDE.
You are free to make your own tracker from a ping pong ball. To each their own. But I find it weird when you piss at NOLO when psmove is so horrible (let alone a ping pong ball imitation). So far the NOLO reports have actually been quite good. I can’t wait to test it myself next week.
This thread is not ment to do anything with nolo so why to merg it with Nolo.
So why to move this thread when we don’t want to have anything with Nolo?
That’s fair enough, you’re right about that
Here is how Pingpong ball works in practice.
Just to remind you it is 10$ solution for 6DoF headtracking in sims and 50 to 60$ if you are going to roomscaling with two PSmove controllers not 200$ as Nolo is.
For experiance from video you just need your Pimax Gyro for directional movement and PS3 Eye+Pingpong light source (cca 10$) for directional movemant.
And here is last quality testof such system with controllers.
So far I didn’t see any proper quality test from Nolo VR which will justified 200$ investment over 60$ solution.
Here is Pingpong ball solution + Leap Motion test.
After this question is are CV1/Vive any more in some advantage because of its tracking system?
Do ve really need another 200$ or more investment for Nolo VR?
Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t have nothing against Nolo VR if its worth it but so far noone prove me I’m wrong with some real testing.
Sorry that’s why I was say another VR garbage I don’t want to overpay for something I don’t need too with same reason I don’t want to give single cent to Oculus who promise in kickstarter campaign that Rift CV version will not cost more than 400$. Zuckerberg buy Oculus and release CV1 for 600$ without controllers. To remind you DK2 was 340$ dased on Samsung Note3 1920x1080 display. Imagine to build just in that days available Note4 2560x1440 OLED display. Such upgrade will make better VR than CV1 will ever be for just fraction of the cost. Such BR shouldnt cost more than 400$. Exactly as they promise and screw us in the end. That is why I will support such open source VR projects before this gready one.
Simple truth strip the controllers & positional tracking systems & rift/vive would be under $400 for the headsets(with more likely decent displays)
Now Nolovr even inflated to $200 is not too bad but should habe maintained the advertised $150 release price point
Now see the link below head tracking 2014 using a wii mote for VR display not headset.
Also checkout in diy positonal the hack a day solution.
I have a leap motion. It’s working like crap for me. I thought about sending it back. I might have to make myself a ping pong hat if my NOLO doesn’t show up soon.
Man, that video is soo old, I remember that from years ago, the Dev eventually moved on to work for Google.
The Note 8 is out, or is the Galaxy 8 from Samsung. It has a 4k screen on it as well, will work fine in the Gear VR. I’m using a Note 4 in a Gear VR, isn’t as nice as PiPlay.
