Do these guys make your screens, Pimax?

O-Film

From your FAQ:
What display you use for Pimax 8K/5K?
We use customized low persistence liquid (CLPL) display.
CLPL is a new patented display tech we developed with our partner for VR specifically.
CLPL display featured with less liquid respond time and higher refresh rate. We have completely
eliminated ghosting and improved brightness with the CLPL display. CLPL
tech is on the same level with OLED in VR era. There are only minor
differences in color contrast/temperature between CLPL and OLED. Also,
CLPL can reach higher PPI/PPD with the same cost.
Our co-founders have over 20 years experience in display era, including many years in _
VR. Some of the core team members come from display industry and
maintain close relationships with display suppliers. That’s one of the
reasons why we care about visual so much.

The ‘partner’ you refer to, I take it they’re someone with a financial stake in the company, who also make tech?

Looking at Pimax at Crunchbase and scrolling down to investors, it’ll take you here and it looks like Shenzhen O-Film pumped in $15million, if I’m reading that correctly. I DO remember the December '17 investment announcement.

They make tech, lens’, screens and are into AR/VR. Do they build your units and/or screens?

(Forgive me, people, I’m a shift worker, it’s 1am and I have a long night ahead of me. Google-Fu is all I have to pass the time)

Good find. O-film is almost certainly the manufacturer of the new 5K+ panel. There is a selection of panels shown here Technologies & Solutions-OFILM , but there isn’t any type of 4K or faux 4K panel listed. The FAQ was made before Series A funding, so there might be another partner manufacturing the 8K panels, or the partner turned investor.

Yeah, I think there’s a good chance.

Now - anyone in the tech industry - would you be so kind as to email O-Film Shenzhen and ask them for the specifications of any panels they make that might be utilized in a theoretical AR/VR project?

Maybe we can get the 8k panel details direct from the manufacturer, if not Pimax?
