can you please confirm that the ones who did the pre-order via an upgrade plan and had choosen the Deluxe Audio Headset will receive a DMAS and not only a KDMAS? I just asked the support (#6935) if the DMAS is included already in my pre-order and they said that they only will ship the KDMAS.
Can you please again highlight the difference between booth versions and when they are applicable?

OK thanks, the support also corrected the statement in the meantime, I will receive a DMAS but they donāt know if it is already in my 8KX box so I have to wait until the package will hopefully arrive next week.
Iām 99% certain it wonāt be in the box if your headset is already shipped.
However they have been sold for almost an year now as part of upgrades and preorders. And things are shipped with arbitrary assigned straps so at the end the people who didnāt pay attention to the forum will be forced to pay double to get the strap they want.
For people like me - who contacted support in order to change the strap in the 8kX upgrade, it is still not clear how this affects the time we get the 8kX shipped. I did what the mail today asked - I sent a PM to PQ to indicate I have not received a tracking number, will see what the reply will be.
I am in the exact same situation as @prinyo. 30 Oct upgrade order later modified on 2 Dec to include DMAS. No shipping info to date. PM to @PimaxQuorra sent.
If you wanted a DMAS with your upgrade then it should be straightforward - you will get a MAS now and at some point the DMAS audio to snap to it. This has been confirmed officially.
The problem is that Pimax has decided that all orders and upgrades for the 8kX will ship with an off-ear (leaky) sound. Regardless of what you choose - a MAS or a āDeluxe Audio Strapā - they are both off-ear.
They donāt tell you that, they take your 100 euro with no warning whatsoever. (If there was a warning/proper product information I would have chosen the MAS and used a DAS instead. )
It was assumed that since the MAS is off-ear the DMAS will be on-ear. But it seems like this is not the case. Seems like, because Pimax doesnāt give any specific information, even if they have been selling the straps for almost an year now.
So if you are an upgrade or preorder and do not want off-ear audio the only way is to contact support to ask for a KDMAS and after that your order enters the twilight zone.
The speculation is that the MAS and DMAS are compatible between eachother, so now they are sending the 8kX with a MAS and will later just send the audio. But the MAS and KDMAS are not, so if you want it then they will not send your headset with a MAS, you will need to wait in order to get it all together.
And all of this is based on the speculation that the KDMAS is indeed on-ear.
Those are just speculations, hopefully somebody will confirm or deny it.
Iām personally fine with receiving only the headset at first, there is no need to wait for the KDMAS, they can send it later. But nobody is asking people what they want and nobody is explaining what they payed for. Hopefully PQ will shed some light on the situation when answering my PM.
Just got a tracking number and Fedex says the 8kX will arrive next Friday, so the speculations above are not entirely correct. Maybe they have made the KDMAS also compatible with the MAS or maybe they have forgotten that my order is changed. Curious to see what will happen.

Hope you got the right headset. They sent me the wrong headset . I ordered and paid for the deluxe headphone version. Also they shipped the wrong headset with no controllers and no light houses I ordered. I doubt Iāll refer friends to buying from them. Shows strong lack of organization. Hope your order is right
The deluxe headphone version of the headset is not ready yet. They are sending out the regular version now and will be sending out the deluxe headphones separately later.
I havenāt heard anything back in terms of what those who paid the whopping 100$ surcharge for the DMAS will receive: we should be getting both the KDMAS (as free upgrade like all 8KX backers) plus a DMAS because we paid for it - not that we will need two audio straps but I surely will not let the 100$ just go for nothingā¦
Your 8KX came with the rigid headstrap and the SMAS speakers. Because you ordered your headset before the DMAS speakers were ready for production, the extra $100 you paid means you will eventually own BOTH the SMAS speakers and the DMAS speakers. Anybody ordering an 8KX with the $100 DMAS option from here on out will only get the DMAS. Think of it as getting the SMAS speakers for free.
The KDMAS speakers were designed specifically for the backers of the 5K+/5K XR/8K/Artisan. The is necessary due to the voltage output and the fact that those headsets have only one audio input jack vs the two on the 5K Super/8K+/8KX. But the DMAS and KDMAS should look identical to and perform roughly equal to each other, IIRC.
I āthinkā the DMAS are off ear like the Valve Index and the KDMAS are on ear like the HTC vive? To further confuse the SMAS differ again ie over ear like the Oculus Quest. Only pimax could release 3 different audio designs almost together 
Hmmmā¦ You may be right about that. I thought I had them all straight, but now Iām not sure. Well, both solutions should still have better audio than the SMAS.
Didnāt Pimax announce to upgrade all original 8KX backers to a better audio solution for free as part of the whole swapping exercise which also removed e.g. the subscription lens holders ?
Sort of. The original Kickstarter backers were promised a free upgrade from the standard flexible head strap to the rigid head strap with audio for hitting the $1,000,000 stretch goal. Then, when they shuffled around the original Kickstarter stretch goals to the new ones, they said theyād upgrade the regular rigid head strap audio to their deluxe audio (KDMAS). But this was only for the Kickstarter backers. Since you stated that you paid $100 for the audio upgrade Iām guessing that you were one of the pre-order or regular customers and Iām not sure if any upgrades were offered for you other than receiving the DMAS headphones to replace your current SMAS units.
Fact is, I am a backer, and ordered the DMAS last year because it was not known by that time that we would get that upgrade to a better audio solution for free.

If you added $100 while purchasing the 8KX to upgrade it to the DMAS, you will receive it.
And if you didnāt opted out from stretch goal, you will get the backer box which contains of KDMAS too.

Iām also waiting on 3 additional face cushions and my hand tracking as well as the backer box and my base stations.
I messaged with Pimax and was told all my stuff will be delayed to ship together when the DMAS is completed - estimated to be in December. I was told it would be this way due to āthe high cost of shippingā. A little weird considering I paid for shipping for each thing I ordered, but I guess I get it 
Also expecting to be hit off with more customs charges once all my stuff does ship.
