Vicovr uses a kinnect like device to bring positional tracking to phoneVR through bluetooth. Has a free sdk so who knows might be able to make this work on pc.

More of information Article on mobile vr using old phones as tracker/controller; not made for pc but good read.

Please post your tracking how to links here. (ie if you created a post on how to setup psmove post link)

Hello,
that’s cool, but it’s to complicate for users, we need a pack with all things, we can 't ask to user bought u headtracking

now i m looking a way with kinect.

That’s why the diy. Now the 2 above would be for more advanced. But folks like yourself could post a link here to things like psmove & kinect etc

Hi,
I would be very interested in how you go with MS Kinect.
I also have one including the PC interface and I was just today thinking if it could be used with SteamVR.

Hi all looking to get TrackIR 5 working with Pimax for IL2 mainly. The DCS trick does not work. I would also live with a DIY version of IR tracking as long as it has 6DOF. Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi Lonny,

Check the hack a day link i posted. They probably have other projects there using trackir.

Which IL2? CloD, 1946… etc?

I know for Cliffs of Dover, I use the following:

Reshade v3.0 and SuperDepth3d (for side by side display)
Opentrack (set to oculus .4 and freetrack2 I think)
Piplay in extended mode.

SuperDepth3d works well with a lot of games, including Halo and the Crysis series. It is possible to use the psmoveservice and bridge instead for IL2 , but make sure your controller has a magnetometer, or the drift will be terrible.

Ok I will check out that link and may do some more investigating since a DIY IR setup is pretty cheap. I’m looking the play IL2 BOS/M which has native VR support now. For not it looks like TrackIR5 is not going to work. Basically I’m looking to play IL2 and ED in direct mode with an IR tracker basically “injected” as the headset tracking. This is really the only thing from holding my Pimax back from being top notch.

I have seen threads here on building an ir tracker and several online. One used the ps3 eye cam with removing the ir filter. Years ago some folks were toying with vr displays using a wii mote as the ir camera. The VR monitor was a regular display that used a wii mote to track 2 ir leds attached to glasses to track head movement. I imagine this was likely what trackir & the other flavours was based/inspired by.

Here is a link to one of the topics here

Good Article, from my understanding using this type of tracking would not work in Direct Mode as TrackIR does not in game even trying the “DCS” trick. It seems like the game Devs would have to allow IR tracking with HMD, or Pimax engineers allow alternative methods of head tracking be recognized as “native” by the HMD/games/steamVR.

Opentrack seems promising as it has the ORift 4.2 Input but does not appear to have an output as of yet.
