Deluxe audio strap from vive

The kickstarter upgraded to some deluxe audio strap (unlocked at 1 million)
now you can find on thingiverse an adapted part allowing to use the Vive deluxe audio strap.
so the question is why Pimax is not simply producing this little adapter and provide the Vive deluxe strap. I do not think the backers already received the pimax deluxe strap and possibly there will be a long time to wait before getting it.
I do not want to pay for the original vive deluxe strap, since another one is supposed to be already in the pimax package.
Or do i miss something and the Pimax already came with the audio deluxe strap ?

It wouldn’t be cost effective for Pimax to do so.

Nope, you didn’t miss anything. Just like the other items… some even more important than the head-strap like the controllers just are simply not available at this time.

I haven’t seen a DAS in footage from the Pimax CES booth. Pimax is able to engineer and manufacture VR headsets and is working on controllers, shouldn’t a headstrap be a lot easier? Maybe they don’t have time ,manufacturing capacity or they have a cunning business plan. My impression is that backers will receive the DAS in 2347 and it will be so advanced that we will be blown away.

Boy, I hope not!!!

I myself will have both the 5K+ (waiting to receive) and the 8K now. The 8K I got was not from Kickstarter so I’m not entitled to a free DAS head-strap on that unit so I went ahead and purchased the VIVE DAS. I think instead of using the 3D printed parts, I’ll use instead MRTV’s Velcro version so that I can swap it between both units until Pimax releases its DAS… which I personally don’t expect until either the end of the year or early next year.

I am sure there can be many good reasons why we haven’t seen a DAS from Pimax yet, could be that they don’t have the resources or they’re waiting for a 3rd party supplier.

However I am a bit sceptical when it comes to the stretch goals. Will backers really receive all of the bonus goodies piecemeal? Nice amount of extra logistics and shipping costs you’re looking at there.

I haven’t even seen an extra face cushion in unboxing videos, so questioning the rest of the story makes sense.

For now I will go with, “Never attribute to malice …” and “At least this isn’t Fontus or Solar freakin roadways”

2347 just in time for Star Citizen release

you can buy a D.A.S (Deluxe audio Strap ) and install it on the pimax
you just need some velcro or better a 3D printed adapter

Which headset did you receive?

i’ll choose the 5K, so i do not need to purchase a new PC/graphic card immediately.
i got the D.A.S from Vive and i will receive a 2nd one from a a bundle from ebay (Vive+2 lighthouse 1.0+2 stick controller).
the little adapter really fits nicely. I printed it myself.
When i finally got all the equipement from pimax, i will resale the vive to get back some money

Okay so you haven’t received the 5k+ yet? The 8k btw has the same pc requirements (have both). Tests have been done by a variety of users on r9 390, 980ti, 1060 6g & more.
