Where was the survey for frontier? There wasn’t one as far as I am aware. There was one ages ago for the anniversary event, a completely unrelated thing.
Yes they employed him, and he works for them but not as a youtuber. What is so hard to grasp about that? Can Sweviver only be a youtuber for the rest of his life? You think he’s just sitting there doing nothing waiting for them to ask him to make a video?
Using off the shelf parts does not make these trivial products to develop. That is such a terrible terrible argument. Yes they missed the date, apparently some have already shipped in China so missing the date by like 1 or 2 months is hardly that drastic. Let’s see what it is like. If you’re calling the crystal or 12k a basic headset then you’re, as usual, arguing in bad faith and just making up points to attack pimax. The main concerns up until Portal were that the Crystal and 12K were far too ambitious and hard to pull off but now you’re here claiming they are basic?
0.21% for 5K plus and 8K (not sure if that’s a specific model or both 8KX and 8K+) on steam charts. I don’t put any weight into those numbers whatsoever though. It’s really hard to know what those numbers really mean. Like if it’s 0.21% of the 120 million claimed userbase then that’s over 250,000 headsets on the steam survey alone. Bigger companies thrive on less than that alone.
Reality is we just don’t really know any numbers outright. Also when have Pimax denied there being any competition? That’s users that say that, that there’s no wide FOV competition in the consumer space which is true but I don’t recall Pimax pushing that idea.
What is this middle ground they are missing and why is it the most profitable? The portal, crystal and 12k seem to cover all markets. I guess you’re referring to specifcally the 800-1200 price point? There’s a gap there in their new releases sure, but what makes you think that’s the most profitable? What are you basing that on? You constantly just make unsubstantiated claims and act as though they are fact.
You’re the only one claiming that means they are bankrupt. I don’t know if you geniunely believe that or not but plenty of companies go the kickstarter route even though they are massively successful already. Sure look at Brandon Sanderson, an immensely successful author. He went the kickstarter route recently, absolutely no need financially but it is another route.
Kickstarter was a crowdfunding platform initially, and still is in many cases, but it’s also used in a much wider way now and I struggle to believe you’re not aware of this.
Fwiw, I have been critical of the portal here and it makes me lose confidence in the support going forward for Crystal/12K but as usual I end up finding myself disagreeing with you because you’re almost never coming to the discusssion in good faith or with anything reasonable. Literally every single point you made there is unsubstantiated nonsense, and the worst part is that there is plenty to be skeptical and concerned about here and I feel that way about portal but of course you need to go completely off the deep end. I don’t know why I am even bothering to respond to this, I guess it’s more for other people as I don’t believe for a second that you will actually take anything on board.
