Why did you shout at me?
Because you were standing on the end the of a cliff!

But why did you shout at me?
Because I thought you were going to fall!

But why did you shout at me?
Because I didn’t want to see you die!

But why did you shout at me?
Because I thought you couldn’t hear me!

But why did……
Are you listening??? No? Ok I won’t make my throat sore anymore.

Where was the survey for frontier? There wasn’t one as far as I am aware. There was one ages ago for the anniversary event, a completely unrelated thing.

Yes they employed him, and he works for them but not as a youtuber. What is so hard to grasp about that? Can Sweviver only be a youtuber for the rest of his life? You think he’s just sitting there doing nothing waiting for them to ask him to make a video?

Using off the shelf parts does not make these trivial products to develop. That is such a terrible terrible argument. Yes they missed the date, apparently some have already shipped in China so missing the date by like 1 or 2 months is hardly that drastic. Let’s see what it is like. If you’re calling the crystal or 12k a basic headset then you’re, as usual, arguing in bad faith and just making up points to attack pimax. The main concerns up until Portal were that the Crystal and 12K were far too ambitious and hard to pull off but now you’re here claiming they are basic?

0.21% for 5K plus and 8K (not sure if that’s a specific model or both 8KX and 8K+) on steam charts. I don’t put any weight into those numbers whatsoever though. It’s really hard to know what those numbers really mean. Like if it’s 0.21% of the 120 million claimed userbase then that’s over 250,000 headsets on the steam survey alone. Bigger companies thrive on less than that alone.

Reality is we just don’t really know any numbers outright. Also when have Pimax denied there being any competition? That’s users that say that, that there’s no wide FOV competition in the consumer space which is true but I don’t recall Pimax pushing that idea.

What is this middle ground they are missing and why is it the most profitable? The portal, crystal and 12k seem to cover all markets. I guess you’re referring to specifcally the 800-1200 price point? There’s a gap there in their new releases sure, but what makes you think that’s the most profitable? What are you basing that on? You constantly just make unsubstantiated claims and act as though they are fact.

You’re the only one claiming that means they are bankrupt. I don’t know if you geniunely believe that or not but plenty of companies go the kickstarter route even though they are massively successful already. Sure look at Brandon Sanderson, an immensely successful author. He went the kickstarter route recently, absolutely no need financially but it is another route.

Kickstarter was a crowdfunding platform initially, and still is in many cases, but it’s also used in a much wider way now and I struggle to believe you’re not aware of this.

Fwiw, I have been critical of the portal here and it makes me lose confidence in the support going forward for Crystal/12K but as usual I end up finding myself disagreeing with you because you’re almost never coming to the discusssion in good faith or with anything reasonable. Literally every single point you made there is unsubstantiated nonsense, and the worst part is that there is plenty to be skeptical and concerned about here and I feel that way about portal but of course you need to go completely off the deep end. I don’t know why I am even bothering to respond to this, I guess it’s more for other people as I don’t believe for a second that you will actually take anything on board.

Got this email about the pre-order and realized it says the wigig transmitter and the 2x battery pack. Can anyone confirm this? @PimaxUSA @SweViver @PimaxQuorra @hammerhead_gal

I was under the impression that the wigig transmitter wasn’t coming at launch, I also thought it was an additional purchase.

Also, seeing as the
Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also, it’s interesting that it’s a 5m cable. Sweviver confirmed that the Visions series (usb powered) cable works for Crystal but those come in the standard 4.5m and optical 6m.

Any chance we could get clarification on whether the cable in the box with the crystal is fibre optic or not?

Not a huge deal either way as I intend on getting the wigig as soon as I can (or perhaps it’s in the preorder?) So hopefully won’t need the cable anyway!

Expect it to take some time for Pimax to respond to concerns raised about the Portal announcement if they’re going to.

So far, Pimax has only immediately responded to a few baseless accusations from certain posters like the claim that Pimax is doing a kickstarter for the Portal because the company is out of money. I take Pimax’s responses so far to only apply to easily dismissible fringe stuff like that and not necessarily to the concerns expressed by the larger community.

I would expect Pimax to need to do an internal huddle and consider carefully how they should respond to the community’s concerns. I don’t think we should expect to get nor hope to get a quick off the cuff response to those concerns.

Good to see there’s progress.

I‘m very much looking forward to 1st impressions from the reservees, particularly from those that can compare it directly to an Aero/VR-3.

@Atmos In this case I am assuming Pimax still have funds available b/c they got some substantial series A funding a while ago. Going down the KS route has proven hugely successful marketing at zero cost to them, so my assumption is that they are eager to get the media attention without an ad budget. This is imho very different from the dubious situation a couple of years ago when they claimed repeatedly to have base stations for backers available in sufficient numbers in their warehouse yet for many months hardly any deliveries to backers occured which created a typical “last days of a business” impression - typical pattern of communication vs. action of a business trying to keep up appearances while no longer being able to fulfil their dues.
I do not see any seriously worrying signs of financial despair at current - if that was the case they e.g. would have tried to milk the Crystal pre-order opportunity (though to me it’s a wee bit dodgy to not just go with a sort of really small deposit, e.g. like the 4$ Valve took for the Steamdeck, but decided to charge approx. 30$ - but that’s another story).

Damn how could I of been so wrong? Lol

Plus Pimax could get another world record Kickstarter to go along their first. Any holes a goal.

Thanks for that question. I had the same concern. I just bought the 8kx DMAS, and I’m having issues with it. I was hoping I could trade up to the Crystal, but I guess I have to wait for the 12K release. I live in Canada, so God only knows when the 12K will be available here. I can’t even find how much the Crystal or the 12K is priced in Canada. The US prices don’t seem to be carved in stone either. Exactly how much will either of these headsets cost? Anyone? Thanks all take care…Eddie.

When is the Crystal launch again?

That Crazy Kung Fu developer, that posted a picture of the portal, said they go to try the Crystal. Waiting to hear their first impressions.

I’m really looking forward to what will hopefully be shared in terms of 1st impressions from the roadshows wrt the Crystal and in particular compared to the Varjo Aero.

We know there will at least definitely be an Aero at the MRTV headquarters for direct comparison. @SweViver Hasn’t confirmed just yet if Pimax themselves will have an Aero at the other hows but personally if at least that one event has the Aero then I’ll be happy enough. The aero will also be present at VR days. So I’ll be testing both side by side 3 days in a row myself ha, will give as thorough of impressions as I can. Also I’ll be as honest as possible as the price tag of the Crystal is possibly the most expensive single item I have ever bought (yes, more than my car lol) so I will be trying to make absolute certain that it’s the right headset for me.

If you do get the chance to chat with Pimax staff, try and press them on wether particularly the lenses of the Crystal exhibits shown at the roadshows are the same ones that will be used for the final product. History does repeat itself.

And try to look at the same content when comparing HMDs, if possible including any and all settings (SS, color adjustments, quality settings etc.)

Very excited to hear what you found.

Will do! I’ll be going to the event for all 3 days (mostly for the talks etc but will also swing by Pimax each day). So my plan is the first day I’ll post a thread with my own first impressions and thoughts, then leave it open for any questions/requests and over day 2/3 I’ll try to do go over those concerns and issues etc. I’ll make a note of your questions now, and any others that come in!

Seems like Pimax have added to the Crystal package.

Now you get Spacial Audio Module - what ever that is.

2x batteries

Charge Docker with Battery

USB hub with adapter

So do you get 3 batteries now or is that a Pimax cockup?

2x batteries is what you get, it’s a typo.

Also the Spatial Audio is that default audio solution (looks like an upgraded SMAS I guess). That comes by default with all of them.
