Cooling Fan Speed controllable via SDK?

Hi Pimax team, @deletedpimaxrep1 @Matthew.Xu @bacon

I was wondering if the fans in the upcoming cooling fan module will be controllable by the Pimax SDK.
It would be great being able to adjust the speed of each fan seperately in order to create wind sensations.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Best regards,
Alex

I’m wondering if there might be some kind of grill cover for the fans to prevent kids from sticking their fingers in or if there is an accidental fall where by some freak accident something might get caught in it

give children to play in vr is not the best idea

That isn’t the point…it was an analogy… It could very well be a pet parrot or cat or whatever that likes to perch on the owners shoulder as they do stuff…

Fan power is very small. An adult they will not be able to harm. Keep your animals away while playing in vr. More likely that you yourself will crush them with your foot while you play in vr

Hi Alex, I confirmed with Team who may consider this subject next.

Thanks for sharing. Actually this campaign did inspire me to post my feature request.
I hope that the Pimax cooling fans will have a better design.

Any idea why the fans are cooling your forehead instead of extracting the air inside?

I think the cooling effect is based on sweat evaporating. Other projects did go the same route:

However there are also alternative designs:

I have a fan next to my desk I don’t need one on the hmd, I thought it would be more useful to deal with the inside of the hmd, especially to keep lenses clear.

To keep lenses clear all you need to do is make them warmer than the air.

A small heating element on the edge can do this I think.

I don’t think you want more heat inside there…

It would not be a noticeable amount, I think.

Is it true some people use fans in VR so they can ‘hear’ where they are in the room spacially (subconciously, not visually obviously), to reduce disorientation/nausea?

I personally just make my play area a weird shape so when I approach the boundaries I can tell where I am in the room just from that.

Invisible fencing with shock collar would work. :beers::joy::+1::sparkles:

Thats a third party module I would support. Then I can make my own personal VR Prison.
