[Controller progress] Let us know your thoughts!

His grip style looks very DIFFERENT to me, but I think it may be very dependant on the size of the users hands. I can see this being extremely uncomfortable for some people.

Please send a mail to support@pimaxvr.com if you want modify the survey. Thanks

I have assigned his information to relevant colleagues, thanks.

For the Touchpad it would be great to have a center (negative) bump which is a bit inside for the thumb. Iā€™ve been playing fallout4 and it is not great when I canā€™t hit the center of touch pad. it would be nice to have it in the center ro rest the thumb on the bump if needed.

yeah i had a feeling this was going to happen. thats one of the reasons when they were asking us to choose between joysticks or trackpad i figured may as well make the joystick, because at least iā€™d have an option for joystick locomotion.

seeing as the vive knucks arenā€™t even final design yet and that if you look at the developer forums for the knuckles they are still having issues with the cap sense for the fingers they have to iron out. I dont have much confidence that these guys can do in a few months what valve has been working on for over a year, with developer feedback.

i figured most will probably end up buying real knuckles when they are released anyway, since they will be compatible.

I was thinking of putting a little dimple in the middle, like a single bump of brail. So you can get a positive sense of when you are in the middle. Iā€™m going to put a tiny blob of nail varnish or superglue the head of a pin in the middle of my Vive pads.

Itā€™s been a while we didnā€™t get news about the controllers.
Will they be delivered with the HMD?
Should we expect the Lighthouse 2.0 with the HMD and controllers?
What do the controllers look like?
Did you manage to make capsense work?

Some of those questions have been answered, just check out the M1 Update thread. Yes they will be delivered with the HMD. Yes they will use Lighthouse 2.0. More news in April.

Where do you read that? I hope they do, but I donā€™t see that in the M1 update. I thought the last I read was Q3 for the controllers.

Yeah, somewhere on this forum, I thought I read that the lighthouses will not arrive with the initial shipment of HMDs. Iā€™ll try to find the info.

I couldnā€™t find any current update on lighthouse delivery dates in this forum. I did find this, but there is no mention of lighthousesā€¦

Free face cushion, VR frame will be shipped along with the headsets.
Additional headstrap with earphones and the cooling fan will be shipped in Q3.
3 free content, eye tracking is estimated to ship in Q4.

According to Tomā€™s Hardware, the basestations are shipping in Q3ā€¦
Pimax plans to ship the controllers and Pimax-branded base stations in Q3.

Valve issued dev kits a while back, so I think the lighthouses could catch the train, but I see nothing indicating the controllers will make Q2. Even though I have not made a hand controller choice at this time, I do look forward to their release and review and hopefully a comparison to Knuckles around the same time.
I tried to find info here once. I gave up and had a beer instead.

The controllers were delayed, as were the headsets. Itā€™s only if you special-requested that they ship your headset early without any controllers or base stations that you would get one early. For most Kickstarterers, both will arrive in the same shipment.

Thanks for the info! Iā€™m pretty sure I asked for the headset as soon as possible. While full tracking is much preferred, I currently only have rotational tracking (via EDTracker), so itā€™s a limitation Iā€™m already living with.

I did the same thing on the last survey. We will get a chance to change things on the next survey and by then should have a timeline on lighthouses. My impression was Pimax licensed Valve tracking, but was building their own sensors. If so they may not be sharing Valveā€™s timeline.

Pimax said they would ship whatā€™s ready when itā€™s ready rather than hold things back unless instructed otherwise. I assume the final shipping survey will allow you to update that choice pending the timeline of each of these components.
I got the impression Pimax licensed Valve tracking, but was making their own sensors. If that is correct then they may not share Valves timeline.

I am very excited about these. I wonder when the next survey is supposed to come out.

Hi,

I didnā€™t follow the recent information about controllers.

As it seems from the picture at the top of this topic , you just included ā€œmenuā€ and ā€œsystemā€ buttons. Will the thumbstick version include A,B,X,Y buttons to play Rift games ?

All we know until the next update

Thanks

It seems great. Letā€™s wait for the updated design.
