will the new sword controllers be compatible with the old P1 hmd like the 4k sn100(mine)/sn102 and b1? or will it work only on the P2 hmd’s like artisans,5k,8k… ?
The sword controllers atm is too soon to know. However you could use Vive Wands & Index Controllers with non SteamVR tracked headsets using extra dongles.
As the p1 series headsets are only 3dof. Folks have tutorials using steamvr tracked controllers with WMR and Oculus headsets.
vive wands, index controllers and nolo vr are nearly non existant on my country, when you have the luck of finding them for sale the prices are exorbitant (430 usd or more)
Do you have access to Psmove/psvr?
As there is Driver4vr and KinectToVR which allow a variety of tracking options.
With the sword controllers whenever they release you’d still need 2 Lighthouses(can likely order as part of a kit) and see if Pimax also sells watchman dongles. Otherwise you’d need either Vive tracker dongles or steamcontroller dongles(flashed for steamvr).
As the p1 headsets do not have controller dongles built in.
Driver4vr has a free trial.
KinectToVR(Think still fully free)
Both have a few youtube videos showcasing them.
@crony may have some ideas as well.
tried psmove and isn’t the same thing(i like to move using the trackpad/joystick instead of teleporting)
tried driver4vr and kinect4vr already but only freetrial
as in using wmr controllers on the pimax ?
do you have the link for the them?
WMR no you need the headset cameras. Some folks have showcased using Index controllers with them.
There is a psmove with using the psnav controller.
One of the forum members long ago used Leap motion with a hand held bluetooth phone vr controller
Here is one of the psmove psnav mods.
havent tried the psnav yet, just the psmove
leapmotion is also non-existant in my country ( Brazil )
The Nav can be used I believe on it’s own with Driver4vr not sure with KinectToVR.
With the Xbox Kinect you might also be able to use the mobile phone Bluetooth vr joysticks. Mentioned using with Leap motion.
However the mod combining the 2 looks promising.
Recently a member here also received a new firmware for presumably just the p1 4k model that reduces ghosting to just more motion blur. I haven’t tried it as would need to find where my old p4k is. However reports sound decent.
@Playa has added it to his pimax complete downloads.
i already spend my driver4vr trial so the kinect and the psmoveservice are disabled, the member that received the firmware was me so i already tested it
Cool. Have you looked into KinectToVR? As it is a free alternative to Driver4VR.
Not sure if it is in the free trial on Driver4vr; but there was also options for mouse? And wii motes if Iirc. I think KinectToVR did add Wii motes but not sure on the mouse vr controller emulation
Another option if you can find one for a decent price is the old Razer Hydra motion controllers.
Steam has a driver available.
havent tried kinecttovr yet,but what i read from it,it only tracks legs,no head and hand tracking available on it,
driver4vr supports mostly everything, even no headset(emulates one and plays the image on the monitor) but is paid AND requires the motion controller before hand
had a razer hydra until earlier this year, its not worth it,too jittery to be playable and its wired only so make a lot of extending for the cables and strap it to you or play sitting in a chair
The cables on the Hydra are quite long tbh. You can do standing games easily enough. Yes it can be jittery depending on your environment. I had decent success with them other than Drift.
One of the 8kX contestants might be able to give some pointers.
The Mouse/wii motes do not require other full motion controllers. Driver4vr is paid to unlock sure. However there are very few options out there.
Only other maybe options is to check Hack A Day and instructables.
I do recall but haven’t seen it in awhile a project using old smart phones. But that is likely to be wonky.
I also recall one using a webcam at one time.
With your region being limited for options. Another idea would be to see if you can find an Antvr Cyclops (antvr itself seems to have folded).
Here is an article that maybe of use possibly using a gearvr controller
Other options might be one of the vr gloves out there.
