Compatibility robin lighthouses(htc vive dk1) with pimax

Hi all,

I found on the forum the htc vive base stations v1 and v2 can be used for the pimax 8k headset. unfortunately I only have a htc vive dk1 with robin lighthouses.
Do i need to buy new basestations or will the old robin lighthouses be supported for 6dof tracking?

Thanks in advance,
Jerrow

If your dk1 vive lighthouses work with vive consumer released headset you should be fine.

PiMax 5k/8k headsets & controllers use laser tracking v2.0 which is compatible with using “either”

  1. Vive v1.0 (valve) Lighthouses
    Or
  2. PiMax v2.0 (valve) lighthouses

Its just Laser v1.0 Tracking (Vive headset, controllers & Tracking puck) not compatible for use with v2.0 Lighhouses.

This I don’t know. I don’t have a consumer headset

I’m pretty sure the Vive Pre lighthouse is the same as the final shipping Vive lighthouse, except the Pre lighthouse is missing the Bluetooth chip, which is used primarily for wireless firmware updates. So in theory it would work…but don’t quote me on that.

I hope it will work. Though the vive pre is a later model than the DK1.
I don’t have a kickstarter, But I’ll find out later next year i guess.
Do I need to pair the pimax to the (robin) lighthouses/base stations? How do I do that?

They work they are identical and there is no pairing, no bluetooth in the old lighthouses.

edit, I thought you meant the vive pre, the older lighthouses should still work though but I have no proof of that.

seems like the robin is just the preceding lighthouse design which the Vive pre used.
