Comparison pimax 5k+ and 8K through the lens image ( shot with Galaxy s9+ ) 4k

I think your reaction is very suspicious.
And look at the colors rather than the patterns.

Yeah, but now the colors are being corrected in the 5K+, so people are examining other problems.

In your opinion, how much better is the movie viewing experience on the 8K apart from the colors? and why (if possible)?

thanks VRmaniac for all the info!

Calls someone a child, yet started his sentence by “laughing”. Honestly i cannot understand how you have leader status considering the way you have been acting lately. @Heliosurge time to remove his leadership?

At 8k, I sometimes feel like I’m seeing clear glass. At 5K +, I sometimes feel sde is offensive

We still have to wait to see how they implement the colour correction. If it’s software driven? Are they changing the output of the LEDs? Other fixes? Depending on how they ‘fix’ the colours or what options they give us through software, it may also effect black levels or contrast… we don’t know yet if for the better or for the worse… so for now it’s yet another ‘wait and see’ issue.

yes, I agree, but it is not the main issue now that we know that’s being addressed in an upcoming update. It can be worse or better, but it’s something with margin of getting better, unlike SDE.

I’m in 5k+ camp, but I do see that the 8K can be more suitable for certain users if the SDE is that less noticeable than 5K+.

The eye see,s what the eye see,s same frame or not it is same camera so you can only presume on what you are presented or NOT ,but yes i do confess i dont think real time would be anything like this ,
most reviews so far have been 50/50 changing daily and not worth there salt anymore its pic aside and stick with it ,and a side order of take my word for it

This isn’t to say we haven’t had some good feed back and reviews just all a little sketchy and mixed up ,in a perfect world we all could try before we buy and on our heads be it

,im loving the picture from the 8k and find the 5k lacking but stills are now in my opinion a waste of time as this has proved nothing other than one has less sde than the other the colors are a bit different and nobody can know how a hmd will look inside from a poster campaign and im not sure if this is generating anything but watch bait ,
cant wait for the first lot of hands on from customers 1-100 101-500 500-1000 and i hope they are not getting mixed messages when they choose.

some like the 5k some like the 8k pic a side and hope its a win win campaign

I think in the end folks should toss most of the info & go with the quick & dirty. No zoomed pics just pure impressions of the Berlin Meetup.

Same camera - not the same time, content time, nor camera alignment – all of which matter considerably: From one frame of the video material to the next, a subject may be closer to the film camera, and as such larger on-screen, being represented by a larger amount of pixels, or it may have dramatically moved in or out of focus. Same for the camera capturing the HMD.

I like, to cut a simple example, how sharp and defined each bristle in the king’s beard is, in the 5k+ picture, whereas in the 8k it is fuzzy and dull, but this is something that could very well, at least to some extent, be subject to the above - I wouldn’t know.

Personal taste and perception definitely comes into things, and whatever you end up choosing, when the time comes; Power to you. :7

Is this real? 8K is looking great but everywhere people are talking that 5K+ is much better than 8K. Now the question is, who is lying?

Nobody is lying, people are prone to exaggeration. Neither headset is bad, both are in fact the best on the consumer market. I’ll cross post something I did before:

FOV: 8K and 5K+ Amazing, Other headsets Poor-Good
Sharpness: 5K+ Great, 8K Very Good, Other headsets Poor-Good
SDE: 8K Great, 5K+ Very Good, Other headsets Poor-Good
Colours: 8K Very Good, 5K+ Good, Other headsets Good-Great (may improve for 5K+)
Blacks and Contrast: 8K Very Good, 5K+ Good, Other headsets Good-Great
Refresh rate, comfort, tracking, etc: 5k+ Great, 8K Very Good, Other headsets Poor-Great.

Those are the biggest issues. Some other headsets and technologies shine in one or two areas and can even beat the Pimax sets here and there. But the pimax headsets stand ahead in the most important VR areas. There are a host of other fields we could rate that have much smaller impacts on the experience overall too, colour banding, software, technical support, durability, mura, godrays, etc.

Pimax is out front in the three biggest areas over the rest of the market. FOV, SDE, and Sharpness. They have no dealbreakers in the remaining areas we might rate, making them the best.

The 8K is for users who will be doing more mixed media, and want the smallest SDE possible, as well as who have a 1080Ti or higher. The 5K+ is for users who will be doing gaming or desktop (text especially) work, and will probably get by with slightly lower graphics cards and remain sharper. SDE while more noticible is still superior to other headsets on the market.

As said neither. It comes down to preferences. Some like Vive & some like rift. Both are good but have flaws that some will prefer A and some B.

Some questions please:
do you see any distortions on the 8k MORE than on the 5k? Do you see a “world moving” effect with 8k? Is the 8k’s less amount of sharpness really noticeable or not really? And would you have said it’s the sharpest hmd you’ve tried if you hadn’t tried the 5k…?

Also, 8k or 5k+ for you?

Reasonable, ever found this pixel pattern easier when open image of sweviver which shared in his topic, but not see too much when download to computer and open by ACDSEE.

There’s almost no difference in the sde, just the pattern is different, I like the colors on 8k more though.

Yes it’s silly to think they’ve blocked your post automatically, bit of a joke really to be honest.

You can’t even see who flagged it or how many people did indeed flaged it.
